Street workout is a physical activity performed mostly in outdoor parks or public facilities. It originated in Ancient Greece, but became a popular movement in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the United States, especially in New York City's urban neighborhoods. It has now spread all over the world. It is a combination of athletics, calisthenics, and sports. Street workout is a modern name for bodyweight workouts in outdoor parks. Street workout teams and organized competitions exist. A typical street workout routine often consists of physical exercises such as pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, dips, muscle-ups, sit-ups and squats. Street workout also involves some static (isometric) holds such as the human flag, front lever, back lever and planche. Street workout can be divided in two branches, one being strength training and the other dynamics. Strength training includes the isometric holds like: planche, front lever, back lever, etc. Also, strength training includes single arm pull ups, hefestos, muscle-ups and many others. Dynamics includes movements like 360's and its variations, switchblades, and an incredible variety of tricks developed by the athletes which are connected with other moves in order to create routines or sets. * Athletics exercising - a system of exercises with various levels of exertion provided for health strengthening, development of strength and stamina, as well as, for shaping an athletic constitution. Athletics exercising is used to increase strength level, develop physical shape and for rehabilitation. The aim of these exercises is to train muscularity strength and to evolve comprehensive fitness. * Urban Calisthenics - a form of body weight exercise performed with no or little apparatus. Individuals and/or groups train and exercise in urban areas and spaces. Advanced Urban Calisthenics skills include Muscle Up's, Typewriter pull ups and both Front and Back Levers. * Street Workouts are usually performed outdoor or in specifically designed street workout parks. Since the release of the video, Hannibal has become popular among calisthenics enthusiasts, inspiring people everywhere to start practicing street workouts and reshape their bodies. Hannibal didn’t have it easy growing up – his father was sentenced to prison for an unknown reason, as Hannibal remembers; “Maybe bank robbery, murder, I never really knew.” Lanham only had his grandmother to raise him, and, according to Hannibal, did everything she could to save him from his father’s fate. Eventually, her attempts to save him from criminal behavior proved futile, as Hannibal soon started to deal drugs and work as a bicycle mechanic due to poverty. During that time, Hannibal found exercising as a great way to “escape the outer world” and to release all the stress and negativity. He started off by doing basic movements such as push ups, pull ups, and sit ups, but eventually developed a passion for exercising and started to find new, creative ways to exercise, mainly doing street workouts. Magnus Midtbø (born 18 September 1988) is a Norwegian rock climber. In May 2013, Midtbø on-sighted the 8c+ (5.14c) route Cosi fan tutte at Rodellar in Spain. As of April 2013, only four other people had on-sighted at the 8c+ level or higher: Patxi Usobiaga, Adam Ondra, Ramon Julian Puigblanque, and Alex Megos. In August 2010, he made his hardest ascent to date, when he sent the route Ali Hulk sit start extension in Rodellar in Spain. The route is a boulder (climbed without rope) and a sport climbing route linked together and the first ascent was made by Daniel Andrada in 2007. The grade is 9b (5.15b) and at 2013 there are only six climbers who have climbed routes at this level in the world. In an interview with UK Climbing, Midtbø stated that there were many difficulties with this climb, including resting in the first part for working the route (it's a boulder without rope), and the strain on the core because it is overhanging. The term Kung Fu refers to the martial arts of China. Kung Fu originated in a place called the Shaolin Temple, where monks practiced Kung Fu for health and self-defense during their quest for enlightenment. The first Shaolin temple was a Buddhist monastery built in 377 A.D. in the Henan province of China. In 527 A.D. a Buddhist prince, Bodhidharma, or Da Mo in Chinese, traveled to the temple for religious teaching, but found the monks weak and in poor health. To find a way to give the monks strength and vitality, Da Mo locked himself in a room for nine years of meditation. His resulting work, Yi Jin Jing, a series of exercises which developed strength, vitality, and internal energy, is considered the original Shaolin martial art. Historically, Kung Fu in China was an integral part in the education of scholars and the leaders of government. The Chinese people placed great value in the practice of Kung Fu because they felt it taught respect, patience, humility, and morality. Many Americans believe that Kung Fu is a term which describes a single martial art, much like Taekwondo, Judo, or Aikido. In reality, Kung Fu is a general term which includes hundreds of styles of Chinese martial arts. Some examples of Kung Fu styles are Long Fist, Eagle Claw, and Taiji Quan. Another misconception is that Kung Fu is a "soft" style compared with Karate or other "hard" styles. This is not so: each Kung Fu style contains both hard and soft techniques. This is because I respect those who are engaged in this long, I do not mention this to anyone, I just train bringing their skills to perfection. That's how I get respect from those who are still a couple of weeks ago, expressed negatively about me, they see my persistence and evaluate the results. Be driven!” Life Before #Workout Training Frank Medrano wasn’t always passionate about sports. According to the athlete, he lived a “normal life” up until 30. During this period of time, he had several problems with his health due to excessive weight; he always felt tired, slow and weak. Year after year, Frank started to gain more weight. Not being happy with his looks, and his health. He decided to get lean and gain muscle After watching numerous workout videos online, Frank decided to make a positive change in his life. First Steps In Physical Training In 2006 Frank got his first gym membership. He started weight-lifting, and after a short period of time, he notice his body and fitness started to improve gradually. Spending a lot of time in the gym, Frank became friends with other athletes and bodybuilders. At this point, Frank’s body was starting to take on a more athletic shape, which got him thinking about a career in the sports industry. Life Changing Calisthenics After spending some time in the gym, and becoming more confident with his abilities, Frank started #bodyweight training in 2010. As Medrano said, it gave him more opportunity to control his body, and further develop his abilities. Since starting his calisthenics journey, Frank hasn’t spent much time in the gym. He started doing his training outside, at home, or wherever he could find somewhere to do pull-ups, dips, and push-ups. With years of patience and hard work, Frank achieved desirable results. He became faster, stronger, and learner at 4%-6% body fat. Becoming A #Vegetarian Bodyweight training wasn’t the only thing that helped Frank build a great looking physique. In 2010, Frank’s friends, Dan Attanasio and Noel Polanco showed Frank how he could benefit from becoming vegan. Little by little, Frank gradually changed, and removed meat from his diet and replaced it with plant based foods.
