USA vs Greece or Poland Masculinity like competitiveness and the acquisition of wealth are valued over 'feminine' values like relationship building and quality of life. - Japan/US vs Spain/Thailand Long term orientation - in China and Japan a ten year plan is short term Also time (e.g meetings), food, dating - a minefield, humour - hard to get right

Changing Bad Habits - Mindfulness and Technology

07:20
Mindfulness and Technology - Changing Bad Habits http://integrationtraining.co.uk/blog/2012/03/connected.html - Meditation mindfulness and technology - changing bad habits. Mark Walsh from Integration Training repeatedly interups participants on the "Connected E-Retreat" in London. They are working on computers and phones and are then asked to be mindful of their thoughts, emotions and bodies and to clarify the intention is whatever they were doing. This is done repeatedly to break the normal bad habits of posture and interaction that can lead to stress and burnout from working online and turn these activities in personal growth practices. Essentially a negative conditioning is broken and a more useful and healthy one is established. Notice (body, emotions, mind) Intention - ask "what am I doing and why?" Transform - change anything you notice Participants were a mix of very experienced and intimidate meditators, business-people, novices and members of the general public. Facilitated by Mark Walsh of Integration Training and Alan Ashley who is ordained in the Triratna (formerly Western) Buddhist order. The purpose of the E-Retreat, which was a great success, was to bring the benefits of meditation and embodiment to a modern technological work context. Please escuse the poor quality of the video which was filmed on a hand-held phone
