Global warming & overfishing: SEA THE TRUTH – the big danger for ocean life (HiQ)
http://www.GlobeTransformer.org or http://www.SeaTheTruth.nl/en/ Got some overweight over the holidays? http://gordr.com/redteadetox (NOTE for the YouTube-Team: we have uploaded this movie with the permission of the Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation) BACKGROUND Sea the Truth is based on numerous scientific publications that examine the problems of seas and oceans. Below follows an overview of the themes addressed in the film and a brief explanation. DEEP TROUBLE: WHALE MORTALITY CAUSED BY OVERFISHING According to a report of the New Zealand news channel 3News sea mammals, among which whales, are dying of malnutrition. The makers claim that this is caused by overfishing. Watch the report here: http://www.3news.co.nz/Deep-Trouble-/tabid/371/articleID/169002/Default.aspx FISHING POLICY AND QUOTA Fishing policy around the world is destructive. Recommendations from scientists on quotas are ignored by policy makers, wealthy countries plunder the fishing territories of poor countries and bottom trawlers sow destruction all over the seafloor with their dragnets. In Europe, 88% of fish stocks have been overharvested, such as the blue fin tuna which sadly is threatened with extinction. EFFECTS OF FISHING ON MARINE ECOSYSTEMS In addition to the effect on the fish stocks, fishing also affects all other organisms in the same habitat or ecosystem. Whether the fish being harvested are predatory or prey, the balance of the ecosystem is disrupted and this can have serious consequences. The degree of disruption strongly depends on the fishing method employed. BYCATCH The term bycatch has come to be used to refer to fish caught unintentionally when fishermen fish for commercial fish. These kinds of fish are not interesting to sell and as a consequence they are thrown back into the ocean either death or mutilated. The average bycatch worldwide is about 40.4% of the total amount of fish being caught. This means that 3 kilos of consumed fish brings about 2 kilos of bycatch. In total, 37 billion kilos of fish per year is wasted bycatch. FISH SUFFERING People once thought that fish could not feel anything when they are caught. This idea was probably motivated because fish are cold blooded; this is in contrast with humans who are warm blooded. However, the ability to feel pain does not have anything to do with body temperature. From research studying the behavior of fish, as well as the study of anatomy and physiology, it turns out that fish have feelings and are in fact able to feel pain. This means that the current methods to catch and kill fish are in truth a torture for fish, moreover captured fish die of suffocation: a process that can take up to several minutes or hours. THE PLASTIC SOUP Between Hawaii and San Francisco floats an enormous amount of rubbish -- a plastic soup with a surface area of 8.6 million square kilometres. To compare: This is 33 times greater than the surface area of the Netherlands (41,528 km2). This plastic soup was 'discovered' by Charles Moore when he sailed through this area with his boat and found himself surrounded day in day out by plastic waste. He later returned with scientific equipment to determine the soup's total size. The plastic soup is a huge threat to a number of marine animals and mammals. TOXINS IN FISH We're told we should eat fish twice a week as it is packed with nutrition. These healthy nutrients are however easily obtained from other food sources, whereas fish may also contain large amounts of toxins. Mercury and dioxins 'enjoy' the status of most researched toxins in fish.

Weddings in Cyprus Introduction - Unravel Travel TV
Introduction to having your wedding in Cyprus. The island is a refreshing holiday destination for those who seek sun, sand, and something to do. Blue skies, stunning scenery and a wedding that wont cost a fortune its no surprise why so many couples are getting married abroad. This Unravel Travel TV programme from Cyprus looks at weddings, honeymoons and holidays on this sunkissed island. From the very beginning, Cyprus has been a favourite on the wedding circuit. After all it is the island of love, ever since Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, rose from the sea. Being such a beautiful island it's no wonder that celebrities choose to holiday here and many even have their own Cyprus holiday villas so they can permanently take an island holiday. Peter Andre has a plush pad here while Senator David Norris from ireland relishes his villa in the Troodos Mountains. But it's not just celebrities who holiday on this island. With a range of superb beaches and inland hamlets to choose from, this island offers something for everyone. The island of Cyprus with its striking coastline of white sandy beaches, sheltered coves and the warm water of the Mediterranean Sea has a lot to offer to the wedding couple and their guests. Monuments of ancient civilization, natural spaces of breathtaking beauty, activities for those who look for more than just a wedding under the sun and last but not least, affordability. One of the main reasons to get married abroad is financial. A lavish wedding in a five star hotel at home could cost up to €30,000 or more, while here in Cyprus you could be paying half of that. In Cyprus its normal for locals to have weddings of up to 500 people and sometimes double or even triple that. Entire villages get invited and the celebrations can last for up to several days. Because of this, as well as the fact that it is easier to get married in Cyprus than many other places abroad, there is a long history of people coming to Cyprus to get married. Morston and Walsingham (Blakeney Holiday)
My photo's from the two seperate days out while we were on holiday in Blakeney. The first part is Morston. About a mile away from Blakeney, this is where you pick up the boats to go out and see the seals. I was looking forward to this part of the holiday for months, but on the day of the seal trip, I had injected my arthritis medicine and felt completely sick, and didn't dare risk the boat! So my Mum and Finley went, and I had to stay on the shore and watch them leave :( It was sunny but absolutely bitterly cold winds. I am gutted I didnt get to go. It was an amazing place though. When we arrived for the boat there was no water in the channel and everyone was saying "how are they going to get the boat out!", then suddenly the tide just rushed in within minutes and the boat left on time. My Mum and Finley saw some seals, unfortunately no photo's though. The second part of the video is our trip to Walsingham, just a few pics as I already have a Walsingham video on this account. We took the narrow train from Wells-on-Sea. We didnt stay long, we had a nice cup of tea in the pub, which actually did have a warm fire and the landlord wasnt grumpy at all! It was chilly on both days, but you have to go a long way to see lovely scenery like this. I only live an hour from these places, so the landscape is very much the same. I love the Coast though. Hope you enjoy.

The Holiday's Are Coming! Homemade chocolate Syrup
Who doesn't love chocolate syrup? I know that it is easy to go to the store and buy a gallon sized bottle of the stuff, but have you looked at the ingredients? First up, High Fructose Corn Syrup! This is not fit for food, it is not good for any of us, because the corn sugar has been so chemically modified its just not healthy. On top of that what they use to process it, contains Mercury! We don't need that and we certainly don't want to feed it to our kids. Here is an easy and inexpensive way to make your own. Face it, you probably have cocoa, sugar, vanilla, salt and water anyway, so why buy what you already have? I jarred mine up in some jelly jars and put it in the fridge. This should easily keep for up to 3 months (if it lasts that long). Make your chocolate milk, hot chocolate and ice cream sundaes with it. You can also give this as a great gift for the chocoholic friend in your life. Put this in a basket with a nice mug, some great coffee and some cookies and you have a nice mocha basket that anyone who likes coffee will love. OR, just give this syrup along with some of your other homemade goodies and you are good to go. Everyone loves a gift from the kitchen or anything home or hand made for that matter. Remember The holidays are about love NOT stuff!I I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it, as always thanks for watching and Happy Gifting and Happy Eating!

Surfing Holidays in South Africa Surf Holiday South Africa - Errant Surf
South Africa recieves plenty of swell from Antarctic lows and is surrounded by the ocean on three sides. It's 3000 km coastline has a 270 degree swell exposure, offering up fantastic surf. This coastline is swept by two major ocean currents, the warm south-flowing Mozambique-Agulhas Current and the cold Benguela, and every coast is pounded by surf throughout the year. South Africa is an exhilarating and complex country. With its post-apartheid identity still in the process of definition, there is undoubtedly an abundance of energy and a sense of progress about the place. Travellers are returning to a remarkable land that has been off the trail for way too long. The infrastructure is constantly improving, the climate is kind and there are few better places to see Africa's wildlife. http://www.errantsurf.com/locations/World-Africa-South%20Africa

Sharm El Sheikh Holidays - www.travcotravel.com
Sharm El Sheikh is the leading tourist spot in Sinai and on the Red Sea coast. Sharm is a year round resort, hot in the summer, but pleasant and warm in the winter, and it has many great international hotels. The beaches and diving opportunities at Sharm El Sheikh are some of the best in Egypt. If you had visited Sharm El Sheikh anytime prior to about 1968, all you would have found was a peaceful, little fishing village. Now it is one of Egypt's most popular beach resorts. In fact, Sharm is the number one tourist destination in all of Sinai. Why? First, it can be enjoyed year-round. Yes, it can get a bit hot in the summer time, but it is also quite warm and pleasant for the rest of the year.

Diving Scuba | Scuba Diving Vacation
http://www.BeeOnVacation.com/diving-scuba --- Enjoying Diving Scuba on Your Vacation Do you want to experience seeing anemone fish or clown fish right from its habitant? Why dont you try diving scuba? Some of you might be thinking that this kind of activity requires a very long time training session and advanced diving skill. Well, the fact is there are a lot of kinds of diving scuba, and you must be surprised that today with the advancement on technology, even the worst swimmer in the world can enjoy this activity. Initially, diving scuba is considered as technical activity for military need or underwater research exploration. However, today the popularity of this activity is progressively increasing along with the development of tourism in a tropical area with warm water. In a simpler word, diving is no longer a technical activity but also a recreational activity. However, there is one significant different between those two kinds of diving activities, recreational diving is a kind of diving activity with maximum depth around 40 meters or 130 feet because beyond that depth the diver will need specialized equipment, which is mostly used for technical diving. In some parts of tropical countries, diving scuba is a commercial business. Caribbean islands are one of the most favorite sites in the world, and then followed by Honduras and some small islands such as Bida Noka and Hin Daeng in Thailand or Lombok in Indonesia. However, though diving scuba is not a dangerous activity, but you are not recommended to dive all by yourself, whatever the reason is you must be accompanied by at least one well-trained diver to guide you. So, are you interested to try this kind of activity? Well, sure you do. What are you waiting for? Pick a site and pack your dive equipment right away. Sea Water Health Benefits Part 4
COLON HYDROTHERAPY RETREAT : http://www.captaincolon.com/ Colon Irrigation : http://www.captaincolon.com/testimonials.html But the Navy would bring back sea water by the railroad cars full for him to experiment with. So that's one of the really first big discoveries that if you collect sea water in the open ocean, not near an iceberg and not near a river outflow, it will basically have the same constituencies in the same order, the same proportion, all over the world and the salinity can vary, the total content of those elements can vary slightly up and down from about 3.3 to 3.8 percent, but the contents will always be the same. Kevin: Wow. John: What he then did, was he started doing experiments. Well, first of all, in his summer holidays, he would sign onto fishing vessels, which gave him the opportunity to autopsy deep sea fish. Kevin: Okay. John: In one particular trip he was able to come across a dead whale and its infant offspring and he took pituitary gland slices and sent them back to a laboratory at LaSalle University in Chicago and he asked them to define and quantify the differences between these two samples. They came back and said there was absolutely no difference. It could have been from the same animal. He said, "That's interesting, because one of the samples came from a 60-year-old female and the other was her infant offspring." One of the ways they determine how something has aged is (1) they can do it from the cell structure, but they can also do it from how cells replicate themselves, and when things stop replicating, it's basically at the end of the life of an organism. So what they were saying is that the mother, the 60-year old mother, was in as good shape as its infant offspring from a time clock standpoint. So basically, fish are swimming in their pharmacopoeia. They live in the fountain of youth, they're perfectly health, they live to their genetic permissions in terms of life and they're healthy until the clock runs out and they flip over and die. Vacation Beach House : The Popular Holiday Solution
http://naplesfloridavacationhomes.com After days and days of hard work, relieving yourself from the chaotic urban lifestyle with endless traffic jams, high demanding clients and standards to satisfy plus those long hour meetings and appointments is surely a great retreat. It's a trend nowadays for not only the riches but also the working class to escape their normal routines and get away during the holidays to heavenly sanctuaries finding fun and serenity together in their dream vacation beach houses. Hiring and buying vacation beach houses is an ongoing popular culture especially for people whom constantly engaged in a busy life, needing quality time to spent for themselves, their families and friends. The beaches therefore become a favourite escape to many, especially where it's warm and sunny all year round, with soft cooling breeze, gold sandy beaches, clear blue waters and breathtaking scenery that simply depict serenity no word could be good enough to describe. With so many activities to offer, islands and beaches are the getaway for both romantic and fun adventure holidays. Water sports, cultural activities, nightlife and luxurious dining are some that are mostly enjoyable yet usually accessible nearby. Thus, adding more reasons to why getting a vacation beach house for the holidays would be a dream come true for everyone. People are even more comfortable nowadays settling in their own self-catered beach houses rather than spending their holidays in hotels. The latter are usually much more affordable but the former are preferred as they realise that holidays and getaways should give them more freedom and privacy than just hospitality and service. Many also prefer getting their vacation beach houses in quiet secluded islands where they can have total peace of mind from the world outside. This is especially important for big people with big names like politicians, corporate figures and celebrities. You get what you pay for and though vacation beach houses seem costly, it's worth investing for. And for some, it is a lifetime investment as a beach house is not only a retreat for holidays and vacations but also a long term sanctuary for their retirement. Not forgetting the fact that more and more house buyers these days are interested in properties in coastal areas to build life by the sea that they have been dreaming of. This culture of getting a vacation beach house for the holidays is also expected to spread and stay for quite a long time particularly for people in developing cities and areas with unpredictable weather for it provides the perfect getaway to peace, love and adventure. Ahmad writes regularly on several websites including his Vacation Beach House site. Traditional Sweet Potato Pie 1 ½ cups mashed, cooked sweet potatoes (I used canned sweet potatoes, drained, and mashed them with a potato masher. You may cook fresh sweet potatoes in salted water until soft, and then drain, cool slightly, and mash, if you prefer.) ¾ cup brown sugar, firmly packed ¾ cup milk 2 eggs, well beaten 1 tablespoon butter, melted ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon unbaked pie 9-inch pie crust (I used Sensational Sesame Seed Pie Crust, available in Betty's Kitchen.) whipped topping In a large mixing bowl, stir together 1 ½ cups mashed cooked sweet potatoes, ¾ cup light brown sugar, ¾ cup milk, 2 well-beaten eggs, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon. Beat well, until completely blended. Pour into unbaked pie crust. Cover the top outer edge of the pie crust with strips of aluminum foil to protect it from burning. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F, and bake 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold. Place a dollop of whipped cream on top of each piece of pie, if desired. This is a gorgeous pie, and it tastes wonderful. It is a perfect addition to your holiday table! Enjoy! How To Make Cotton Candy (without a machine) with yoyomax12
This was an interesting experiment to try, but I will buy my cotton candy from now on :) The clean up was just too time consuming. Due to the unbelievably large number of idiotic, stupid and hateful comments, I have disabled the comment section. I don't know if this recipe will work without the corn syrup, never tried it. Remember you are working with REALLY hot sugar so be sure to have a bowl of cold water ready in case you get any of it on your skin. You can get severe burns if you spill the hot sugar on your skin. THIS IS FOR A FULL RECIPE --- THE VIDEO SHOWS HALF A RECIPE **the half recipe makes LOTS*** This recipe is taken from the Food Network website. Ingredients 5 cups granulated sugar 1 1/3 cups light corn syrup 1 cup plus 2 tbsp. water Flavoring (vanilla extract or other like peppermint extract) Food color paste (or liquid) Vegetable baking spray Directions To make this recipe at home, you will need a pair of wire cutters and an old inexpensive whisk. Cut the round ends off an inexpensive whisk. Arrange the tines so they are evenly spaced. You will also need an open space to make the cotton candy. At home, slit open a garbage bag and cover the floor area or use newspaper. Wedge 2 long wooden spoons under something heavy so they extend off the edge of the counter. Place the sugar, corn syrup, and water in a 2-quart heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat. Insert a candy thermometer and cook the sugar mixture until it reaches 320 degrees F, what is known as the hard crack stage (the sugar becomes brittle when it comes in contact with a cooler surface). Remove from the heat and carefully pour into a medium-size microwaveable glass bowl. If you leave the sugar in the pan, the sugar will continue to cook and turn dark brown. A glass bowl will hold the temperature of the sugar. I put a towel under the bowl to keep the bowl from tipping over and to protect my hands from the heat of the glass. (The sugar will stay liquid enough to work with easily for about 10 minutes; after that it will start to thicken. If this happens before you are finished, just pop the bowl in the microwave for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the sugar is liquid enough to work with once again.) If you are going to color and/or flavor the sugar, add those drops now. Dip the tines into the hot sugar. Allow the sugar to drain off for 1 to 2 seconds until the draining sugar strands are relatively the same consistency. Then wave the whisk over the extended wooden spoons and allow the sugar strands to gently drift until they are resting on top of the spoons. Make sure you are about 12 to 18 inches above the spoons. Use broad long strokes and work quickly. Gather the cotton candy and roll onto paper that you've rolled into a long, thin cone, like cotton candy is served in at the carnival or serve as is. If you need to store the cotton candy for a few hours, place it in an airtight container. The delicate sugar will melt in a humid environment. Clean up: Using a heat proof spatula and oven mitts scrape the liquid sugar out of the bowl into a cardboard box or container you are planning on throwing out (if the container is plastic, make sure it is THICK). The sugar will melt right through plastic bags so don't pour it directly into a garbage can. After you are done place all utensils and pot/bowls in hot water for a couple of hours or under warm running water to dissolve the sugar. Music by: Jason Shaw http://www.youtube.com/user/audionautix
Sunset - Ochheuteal Beach, Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Filmed: February 17, 2010 at ~6:10pm. Spectacular sunset over the waters of Ochheuteal Beach in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Truly a paradise on earth with warm salt water and soft sandy beaches. Finish your day with a BarBQ on the beach (fish, seafood or meat) and an ice-cold Angkor Beer and party on into the night if that's your thing! It's a relaxing and wonderful place with friendly Cambodians selling food and drink (both Western and Cambodian style). Plenty of shops and restaurants minutes from the beach. Accommodations to suit everyone's budget, from students and backpackers to my favorite, a local guest house (fan, a/c, hot water, shower, cable tv and small fridge), to 5-star luxury hotels on a private beach.

Arthur Fiedler & Boston Pops Medley - Here We Come A-Caroling/O Tannenbaum/I Saw Three Ships (1972)
"Here We Come A-wassailing" (or Here We Come A-caroling) is an English traditional Christmas carol and New Years song, apparently composed c. 1850. The old English wassail song refers to 'wassailing', or singing carols door to door wishing good health, while the a- is an archaic intensifying prefix; compare A-Hunting We Will Go and lyrics to The Twelve Days of Christmas (e.g., "Six geese a-laying"). According to Readers Digest; "the Christmas spirit often made the rich a little more generous than usual, and bands of beggars and orphans used to dance their way through the snowy streets of England, offering to sing good cheer and to tell good fortune if the householder would give them a drink from his wassail bowl or a penny or a pork pie or, let them stand for a few minutes beside the warmth of his hearth. The wassail bowl itself was a hearty combination of hot ale or beer, apples, spices and mead, just alcoholic enough to warm tingling toes and fingers of the singers". "O Tannenbaum", or, in its English version, "O Christmas Tree", is a Christmas carol of German origin. A Tannenbaum is a fir tree (German: die Tanne) or Christmas tree (der Weihnachtsbaum). Its evergreen qualities have long inspired musicians to write several "Tannenbaum" songs in German. The melody is an old folk tune (Lauriger Horatius). The first known "Tannenbaum" song lyrics date back to 1550. "I Saw Three Ships" (Come Sailing In) is a traditional and popular Christmas carol from England. A variant of its parent tune "Greensleeves", the earliest printed version of "I Saw Three Ships" is from the 17th century, possibly Derbyshire, and was also published by William B. Sandys in 1833. The lyrics mention the ships sailing into Bethlehem, but the nearest body of water is the Dead Sea about 20 miles away. The reference to three ships is thought to originate in the three ships that bore the purported relics of the Biblical magi to Cologne Cathedral in the 12th century.

How to cut a whole turkey to prepare for roasting.
Several years ago I started cutting my Thanksgiving turkey into large pieces and roasting those. The bird cooks faster and more evenly. It is easier to roast, because it isn't stuffed. It is easier to slice when it is cooked, because you are working with much smaller pieces. Instead of stuffing the whole bird, I take part of the turkey back and place it on top of my stuffing that I have placed in a large casserole. It cooks in a separate oven at the same time as the turkey is roasted, or if you only have one oven, you could cook it ahead, and keep it warm while you roast the turkey. Update: I continue to cut up my turkey before roasting and have been brining it before roasting. Last year, I did the brine the day before and after rinsing the brine, chilled the turkey overnight. The results were excellent - best turkey I have done. I brine my bird in a 20 quart container with a lid. I've heard of people using a cooler to brine. Here are the brine directions: Turkey Brine 2 quarts water 4 quarts water and ice 1.5 cups kosher salt 1.5 cups sugar 2 bay leaves 6 cloves garlic, smashed 1 T black peppercorns, coarsely smashed Pour 2 quarts of water into a medium saucepan. Add salt and sugar. Heat and stir until salt and sugar are fully dissolved. Pour into container that will hold turkey. Add spices and remaining water and ice. Add turkey. Make sure turkey is fully submerged in brine, add more water if necessary. Keep cool and brine for 2-3 hours. A longer brine time will make the meat too salty. Remove turkey from the brine and rinse well with fresh water. Pat dry and either roast right away or cover and refrigerate overnight. The overnight chill will give the best flavor results, so if you have the time, do it.

How to Make Hanukkah Jelly Doughnuts
Watch more Happy Hanukkah videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/406950-How-to-Make-Hanukkah-Jelly-Doughnuts Jelly doughnuts, also known as sufganiyot, are a traditional Hanukkah dessert. You can enjoy making them as a treat anytime! Step 1: Soften butter Soften the butter to room temperature. Step 2: Make yeast mixture Warm up the water, mix in the yeast, and and 1 teaspoon sugar. Set the mixture aside for 10 minutes, until it's foamy. Step 3: Mix ingredients Pile the flour in a mixing bowl and make a crater in the center. Put the yeast mixture, eggs, butter, salt, nutmeg, and remaining sugar into the crater. Step 4: Form dough Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon until dough forms, and then knead the dough on a floured surface for eight minutes -- until it springs back when you press it. Step 5: Cover and let rise Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and place it in a warm area to rise until it has doubled in size, an hour to an hour and a half. Step 6: Roll dough Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until it's a 1/4 inch thick. Cut 20 rounds from the dough with the 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter. Then cover with plastic wrap for 15 minutes. Step 7: Heat oil Heat the oil in a saucepan until it reaches 370 degrees Fahrenheit on your deep frying thermometer. Tip Substitute olive oil instead of vegetable oil for a more traditional and healthier version. Step 8: Fry dough Fry the dough rounds, 4 at a time, for about 40 seconds. Transfer them to a paper towel using a slotted spoon. Step 9: Coat and fill Dredge the doughnuts in sugar to coat them, and make a hole in the side of each with the pastry tip. Use the pastry bag and tip to fill them with jelly. Have a happy Hanukkah and enjoy this delicious Jewish holiday treat. Did You Know? Hanukkah begins on the 25th day of the month of Kislev on the Hebrew calendar, which corresponds with late November or December on the Western calendar.
