Basic settings & customizing the screens

05:31
Find it EZ is fast and simple to configure.  This demo will demonstrate how to quickly add Projects using the Project Manager, edit a Project’s Settings, switch between Projects, choose which sources to scan, and change the User Options. Projects contain the settings used for a search. Using Projects gives you the ability to quickly search different directories, languages, databases, and reports. You may add a new Project either by using the Search Assistant, or by using Manage Projects. Click Projects, click Manage Projects, then click Add. In the resulting text box, enter a name for the new Project, and click OK. To edit your new Project’s settings, click Edit. In the Folder and File Settings tab, you may add as many directories as you wish to search by clicking Add under the Search Path(s) field. You may add directories by either using the folder browser, or by typing in the directory path. You may also choose whether or not to recursively search all sub-directories, and whether to explicitly include or exclude the directory contents in each search. To add any filters for files you wish to exclude, click Add under the Exclude File(s) field. Fully qualified filenames or wildcard patterns may be used. Click on any of the listed Programming Languages to modify the file extensions to be included in a syntax aware search. You may also set your preferred application to instantly edit or view results in full context. To add a custom file extension to a programming language’s settings, click Add under the File Extensions Searched field. Enter the file extension to be searched, and click OK. To change the editor or IDE which opens this type of language file, click one of Find it EZ Code Viewer, Windows default editor, or Selected Application. To search an Access database, click on Access under Databases. Note the alert prompting for required information. You may disable this hint by checking "Do not show this message again". Enter the path and file name of the Microsoft Access database file, and its password, if one exists. Click Test Connection to verify that the provided information is correct. You can select what database information you wish to search by checking options in the Search section. You may also select your preferred editor for opening search results. To add any other of type of database, such as SQL Server, click on the database type under Databases. Add the Service or Instance, Port Number if it is non-standard, the username and password of a user with read access, and the name of the Database to search. If known, you may enter the database name directly, or select it from a list by opening the database browser. Click Test Connection to verify that the credentials you have provided are correct. Select what type of database information you wish to search and note that for all databases, you can also improve search times and reduce false positives by choosing subsets of objects to search. For example, to limit which tables to search for data, click the Data tab, click Refresh, and select which of the Available Tables you wish to search, or alternatively, type the name of the table you wish to add in the Filter text-box, adding an asterisk for any wildcard pattern matches. The Active Project is the project whose settings are currently being used to complete searches. Setting which Project is active is simple. Within Manage Projects, highlight the project you wish to make active by clicking it, and click Set Active. Alternatively, click Projects, and select the Project you wish to make active from the list. Before you search, you must choose which sources to scan. Under Scan Sources, select all the sources you wish to scan at this point. These can be easily changed before or between each search. To edit your User Options, click Tools, then click User Options. Here you can change how the application behaves. The On Startup section controls actions on Startup. Under Performance, you can choose whether or not to enable multi-threaded searching, and define how many searches to do simultaneously. The Results section allows you to automatically expand the details of each search result. You may chose to turn various Tips and Hints off once you are familiar with using Find it EZ. Use scan options to further customize each search with syntax aware filters, wildcards or regular expressions. The maximum number of source items scanned simultaneously is based on user option settings demonstrated earlier. Use the Middleware Diagnostics Advisor to Size the JDBC Connection Pool

04:13
With Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c, a new feature has been introduced that provides true advisories to operations teams on critical diagnostic findings. The entire stack is taken into consideration from the top-level applications to the mid-tier, databases, and the hosts they reside on from both a performance perspective (historical and real-time) and a configuration/compliance perspective. The end result is a diagnostic finding that provides a recommendation for resolving the problem. In this particular demo, we will be looking at a finding related to the JDBC connection pool size on Oracle WebLogic Server.

RapidBiz: app development tool for non-developers

15:25
More and more companies are starting to realize that managing business processes using spreadsheets is a cumbersome and inefficient way of solving problems. However, hiring a software developer to create an application from scratch that replaces the spreadsheets can be costly and time consuming. RapidBiz is a tool that eliminates the time and cost associated with third-party development by allowing both developers and non-developers to create applications quickly and easily. "When people want to have something done right now, they have a tool set that allows them to do it, and better yet, it deploys it immediately to the web," explains Terry Bird, Founder, President and COO of VACAVA, maker of RapidBiz. "So if you want to get that information out to your customers, your suppliers, your team, you can do that literally in a matter of minutes or hours today with RapidBiz." The RapidBiz interface features a simple drag-and-drop methodology where users name fields, tie them to the appropriate field or column in the database, click save and create their app. In addition to stand-alone apps, users can create apps that serve as extensions of their existing ERP solution. "I think we all understand that ERP is great and provides a wealth of features and functions around the process," says Bird, "but it can't do everything for everybody every time. That's where RapidBiz really shines is if you need to extend an existing solution, whether it's ERP, financial or anything, then RapidBiz can probably do that very easily." While the tool is designed to allow anyone to develop an app, RapidBiz has consultants on hand that will help you through the process should you need assistance, or they will develop the app for you using the tool. Apps are 100% web-delivered on standard IE and Firefox browsers, and users can link to any database to which a connection can be established. Customers have already used the tool to develop a wide variety of applications from a global quotation process to a sales support system to a global supply management system just to name a few. Once your app is developed, deploying it is as simple as clicking a button. "When we developed it, we knew that you couldn't just do it so I could develop it and then I've got to hand it off to a programmer, and then the programmer has to deploy it," explains Bird. "We didn't want that. Literally all you have to do is change a radio button from in development to deploy or active, and it is now available on the web. And it's available to whoever you give the URL to and who's authorized to actually go after the app." More info: RapidBiz web site: http://www.rapidbiz.com/ RapidBiz profile on Twitter: http://twitter.com/RapidBiz
Social BPM demo: integrating Linkedin, Doodle, and BPM for meeting scheduling

04:27
This is the first demonstration of the Social BPM features enabled by the BPM4People Project (www.bpm4people.org). In summary, BPM4People lets you: - design the BPMN model of a social BPM application - transform it into a Web application model in WebML and refine it - integrate within the model access to external social platforms for: selecting expertise, spawning execution of tasks, collecting feedback on process execution or on shared knowledge, perform mining of informal or unstructured user interactions. - generate the running system as a standard Java Web application. For more info on the project visit: http://www.bpm4people.org . In this demo we will show a simple example that exploits public social platform within a business process. The purpose is to set up a work group and schedule a business meeting. At high level, the process is specified using the BPMN notation, extended with some Social-specific annotations. In our example scenario, two roles are involved in the process of scheduling the meeting. 1) The DIRECTOR creates the group, defines the meeting purpose and the scheduling options and 2) the PARTICIPANTS, belonging to the director's pool of contacts within a social network, vote for the preferred options. The director signs in, filters his contacts in a social network (e.g., Linkedin) and selects the ones to involve in the meeting. Subsequently he defines the meeting and the scheduling options within a public poll platform (e.g., Doodle) and then he invites the selected participants to vote into the poll. Participants fill in their schedule preferences. Each participation is notified to the director by email directly by the poll platform. Based on the participants' votes, the director schedules the meeting and finally the meeting date is notified to all the participants. The BPMN model is mapped to a Web application model specified in WebML. The WebML model for the social network-based login of the director is shown. In the running application, automatically generated from the WebML model, the user logs in and the system exploits the LinkedIn authorization mechanism. Therefore, the user is asked to confirm that he grants access to his profile by the application. The WebML model for the view of the site dedicated to the director role is shown. The application uses the OAuth protocol to identify the director through the social network API. The LinkedIn unit is called back by the social network to grant access to the user. The first task of the director is to search and select the participants to the meeting, based on his contact list in Linkedin. Subsequently, the director adds a set of scheduling options and finally fixes the meeting description. Based on this information , a poll is created within the Doodle platform. Participants are notified about the newly created poll. Correspondingly, the automatically generated running application lets the director filter his contacts based on a set of search criteria. Contacts extracted from Linkedin are sorted by default based on the network distance with respect to the director. The director selects the meeting participants from the list and then adds the meeting scheduling options to be voted. Each option is described by a date, start time and end time. Finally all the meeting details like subject, location and optional description can be submitted. Participants vote for the scheduling options within the Doodle platform by adding their name and selecting the options they prefer. The status of the poll can be checked by the director at any time from the generated application interface as well as from the Doodle platform. An appropriate page model is defined in WebML for this: the "My meetings" page includes a list of the defined meetings and shows the current voting status and the voting URLs. The generated application interface comprises a list of defined meetings. By selecting one, its details are presented. The Doodle urls for the poll and the the preferences of voters are visible within the application. The status is also visible through the Doodle admin link directly in the Doodle platform.
