Many websites and news articles mention the importance of continuing to date while you're married.
By that I mean date your spouse.
We'd you think this post was going? :)
It's an awesome concept, and one for which my wife is a huge advocate.
But, how can dating improve your business?
Learn how in today's video.
Date Your Database
Taking some ideas from dating into the business arena can yield surprising results.
Like dating, the goal here is to build and improve relationships.
Here are 3 techniques to seal the deal with your SOI.
Communication Is Key
Remember the old saying, you have only one mouth, but two ears, so you should listen twice as often as you talk.
Now, can you think of anyone in your life that lives by that?
They're few and far between, right?
Well, imagine being on a date where all the other person does is bump their gums, non-stop.
All these traits, and more is how people will describe you, if you don't take the time to listen to your clients, your database.
Take interest in the things they're interested in. Now build content and connections with that information, and build strong relationships.
Pick Up The Tab
Look, I know society has changed a bit. Men don't have to pay for dinner all the time.
But, call me old-fashioned, I think it's important to pick up the tab.
This principle applies in the online world as well. When it comes to free content, either through Facebook post, blog posts, email newsletters, etc., you should be giving content as valuable as a free meal.
Don't Be That Guy
We've all been on a date, or heard about one, where the other party was a bit too clingy.
Hopefully, that wasn't you. :)
Regardless, it's a bad idea for dating and it's a terrible idea in business.
Now don't get me wrong. Staying in touch with your database is vital to a growing, thriving business. This is where proper, segmented drip campaigns really shine.
Sending properly timed emails can be the difference in making you look awesome, or like a stalker.
And, don't forget, it isn't always love at first sight. Give people an easy way to unsubscribe.
Many people miss the point of this. They think if they make it easy everyone will unsubscribe the chance they get. But, they shouldn't if you followed the previous tips.
On top of that, if you make it hard to unsubscribe, people will just mark you as spam instead, which is less than ideal. And makes you look bad in the eyes of your email marketing software provider.
Whether you were a natural Casanova during your formative dating years, or not.
You can use these principles on dating to make your database swoon.
Or at the very least, make them more likely to convert and improve your business.
