Fashion Items That Changed The World

Top 10 of the most influential and revolutionary fashion trends and statements of all time. The history of clothing and accessories that we wear today. Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg 'Little Black Dress' clip provided by : DeziredBeauty - http://youtu.be/f-XIBOAO_js. For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Description: Ever since Adam and Eve committed the first sin and God bestowed upon them fig leaves to cover up their nakedness, fashion has remained a major part of our lives. So many elements of a person is dictated and determined by the clothes that they wear. If a person wears designer brands, it is assumed that they’re rich. If someone is wearing rags, then they likely don’t have much money and their lifestyles are probably not lavish. With so much judgment on societal class, it is no surprise that fashion has become a powerful hand in society. With much power, comes great responsibility. Believe it or not, much of our most iconic fashion were developed in times such as early man and medieval times. Thanks to the evolution of the human brain, we have been able to change and tweak some of the earliest fashion items into trends that have found eternal popularity. For example, the high heeled shoe actually has roots in early Renaissance times, but they were worn by men! Why? By elevating themselves with a heel, they could show off their social status. Heels were also seen as functional when it came to horseback riding because it locked the shoe into the stirrup. So, when did women start taking over the high heels? In the 16th century, a rather short woman named Catherine de Medici started wearing heels to make up for her short stature. Sunglasses even have early roots dating back through centuries as the Inuit wore glasses made out of walrus ivory to help block out the sun! Today, sunglasses have multiple uses from protecting our eyes from the harmful UV rays to being a trendy fashion item. And if you’re a big celebrity, you’ve probably used sunglasses to shield your identity and hide evidence of being out in the lights, partying too much, or just being plain exhausted. Designers have made their millions from sunglasses, such as Ray-Ban, when they developed glasses exclusively for the military that eventually turned into a hot fashion trend. Get a pair of aviators with a leather jackets and you’re the coolest kid in town! Some of the most poignant fashion items such as the bikini and the mini skirt found its birth in the mid-twentieth century. The bikini was the first of its kind to show off a woman’s midriff along with her butt and cleavage. You can image the stir it created amongst the more conservative crowd. When the mini skirt came out, women actually protested the garment because it was believed that it made a woman more vulnerable to rape. Finally, the fashion item that changed the world was the bra. Yep, support for the woman’s chest area wasn’t really a priority until the late 1800’s when the brassiere was launched through Vogue. From that simple item that offers support, the Wonder Bra evolved from it as well as other bra-like innovations. Lingerie stores such as Victoria’s Secret have the bra listed as one of their most popular items. With so much that has happened with fashion items of the past, there’s no telling what is ahead of us for the future. 100 Years of Bras | Glamour

The bra has come a long way since its inception. Check out how this sexy staple has changed over the years—and choose which style you like best! Bras are such an integral part of our everyday lives, but have you ever wondered about the origins of the almighty brassiere? Check out our brand-new video that charts the history of the bra from the first bra in Roman times (a tightly wrapped cloth, created to make breasts appear smaller because the Romans didn't particularly enjoy them—rude, huh?), to the lacy little underthings we wear today. While it seems crazy to us now to hide our natural feminine shape, feelings towards breasts and therefore bras varied from era to era. Take a look at how bras have transitioned throughout history—and hey, you might even find yourself wanting to bring some of them back! Coco Chanel, the woman who changed fashion. The art of savoir-faire.

04:01
Fashion designer Coco Chanel has been credited with developing the "modern woman." Her designs were a symbol of the independent woman she was. Her most significant contributions to the world of fashion were: The Little Black Dress: Chanel wanted to create an effortlessly wearable frock that all women could look stylish in. The little black dress has, for the most part, maintained its popularity through the decades since Chanel brought it into our lives in 1926. The Chanel Suit: She was the first to create women’s suits, using knit material so that they would be lightweight, flexible, and flattering. Suits with impeccable fit, collarless necklines, gold braids, metallic buttons, fitted sleeves, and polished silhouette. Costume jewelry: The designer, who was rarely seen without a heaping pile of pearls around her neck, designed costume jewelry made from chains, beads, and glass that was meant to be worn with her casual daytime sportswear. If women could buy jewelry that was more affordable than real gemstones, they could properly accessorize every outfit they had. Weirdest Fashion Trends Of The 2000s

10:28
It may shock some of you to realize that the end of the 2000s was almost ten years ago. As we know, there are up and downs to fashion. However, it is an industry that has proved to be cyclical, and some of the cringe-worthy things you see on this list may make their way back. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr Watch our "Evidence That Aliens HAVE Visited Earth " video here:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iL227eb9FSI Watch our "CRAZY Ideas That Actually Worked!" video here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0n2wEAiOcg Watch our UNBELIEVABLE Items Found After Tsunamis !" video here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNNLwdBI7Gk 6. Studded Belts Let’s discuss the opposite of preps. This list includes a conglomeration of emo kids, scene kids, mall goths, and skaters. Although these are all separate subcultures, they do or at least used to overlap. What did all these cliques have in common? They wore studded belts like this one! By today’s standards, belts are used to complete an outfit, whether to cinch in the waist or add a chic touch to your wardrobe. Back then, belts were ostentatious and included graphics, bottle caps, and these dull spikes. 5. Frosted Lip Gloss Once the 2010s rolled into town, the “dewy” and “glossy” look that actresses and musical artists wore in the 2000s was out. In was the “matte” look. It is now 2019, and it seems both have their space in the beauty industry. Frosted lip gloss would have been unthinkable in 2014, but ten years before that, girls couldn’t wait to buy their cherry-flavored gloss at the drugstore. The more shiny and metallic, the better. 4. Ill-Fitting Dresses Let’s be honest with ourselves; the noughties were rife with ill-fitting clothing. Right now, we are talking strictly about dresses. This is a photo of Heidi Klum, one of the most prominent supermodels in history and here she was at an event wearing what looks like a tin-foil napkin. It doesn’t hug her curves or accentuate anything but how waif she is and how broad her shoulders are. 3. Cargo Pants Men and women wore cargo pants in the 2000s. Cargo pants and shorts were more available in the early 2000s, but as the years passed, that style was no longer marketed to women. That changed in the last two years when more fitted, tapered versions of the cargo pants were introduced. Maybe these new cargo pants aren’t as baggy as their predecessors, but they come complete with the deep, velcro pockets and one too many zippers. 2. Body Jewelry If you go to Coachella or any other summer music festival, chances are you can spot more than a handful of people wearing body jewelry consisting of plastic gems they glued onto their skin. It brings to mind what it was like 15 to 20 years ago when this was popular. Rhinestones, it seems, weren’t just designated a fabric. Perhaps the strangest part of this fad was the teardrop stones. This knickknack hung from the eyeball via a contact lens that was attached to a thin, nearly invisible wire. Dutch designer Eric Klarenbeek invented them, and for a short time in the 2000s, it was something humans sought out to purchase. 1...

5 Reasons Behind Fashion Trends

04:25
So in this list, I'll be showing you 5 reasons behind fashion trends 5) Why Women Shave Their Legs You're probably not surprised to find out that women didn't always shave their legs. In fact, the idea of removing hair from the body really only came about in recent times. Queen Elizabeth 1 was a trendsetter for her time. Under her reign, the fashion was only for women to remove their eyebrows so it would make their faces appear longer. However, things all changed during the world war 2. Nylon was in short supply as the material was used to make war parachutes, so women during the war couldn't really wear stockings anymore. This meant they walked around in public with their legs out on show and some decided to start shaving their legs. The trend quickly set and became normal. 4) Pink & Blue If you're at a baby shower and all the colours are blue, you know they're having a boy. If its pink then its a girl. The idea of pink for girls and blue for boys seems like something deep-rooted in human nature. Except its actually all just something made up in the last 100 years. Historians can confirm that for centuries parents dressed their children in white regardless of their gender. White was a practical choice as it could be bleached. However, in the 1900s colours began to be used to signify a child's gender. You might be surprised to find out that originally, pink was for boys and blue was for girls. It was said pink was a more decided and stronger colour therefore suitable for a boy and blue was delicate and dainty. However, this trend wasn't very widespread. Only in around 1985 when doctors could tell parents the gender of their baby before giving birth did retailers start trying to cash in. Retailers realised for the first time ever parents could buy products based on their child's gender so started individualising their clothing. They chose that pink is for girls and blue is for boys and this trend has stuck ever since. 3) High Heels You might be surprised to find out that men have been wearing high heels for a lot longer than women. While yes today high heels are pretty much exclusively worn by females, but for centuries before you would only ever find men wearing them. They started off as practical footwear for soldiers. When a soldier was on a horse and stood up to fire his bow and arrow, the high heels helped him secure his stance. At around the 15th century, the wealthy started wearing high heels to show off their wealth. Fast forward a few hundred years and men stopped wearing high heels as they just became impractical and the rich were already on some new fashion trend to show off their wealth. This is when women started adopting high heels and to this day the trend has stuck. 2) Painting Our Nails The idea of growing, shaping and painting our nails is a real ancient tradition. In fact, the oldest manicure set ever discovered is made from solid gold and is over 5,000 years old. Throughout that time, there have been so many different colours and styles that were fashionable but the concept of putting paint on one's nails has never really changed. While it's difficult to say exactly what sparked it off as its such an old tradition, we do know in more recent human history it was all about showing off. Long nails are impractical for labour, and labourers have always been considered to be low down on the social class scale. Therefore if one had long, painted nails they must have been of an elite status. 1) Why Some People Sag Their Pants Sagging your pants is a fashion trend that has a very interesting history. Unlike most trends that started centuries ago, this one is actually very new. The origin of this trend cannot be conclusively traced but there are two leading theories as to how and why it started. Both theories state that it came from inmates in American prisons. One is that inmates were prohibited from wearing belts and therefore naturally their pants would sag. The other is that inmates wore their pants low to let other prisoners know that they were s available. ------------------------------------------------------- Vlog Channel: http://www.youtube.com/more5 Twitter: https://twitter.com/OfficialAll5 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sam_all5 Snapchat: SamAll5YT Website: http://www.All5.me -------------------------------------------------------

NASCAR became an influential part of fashion starting in the early 2000's. Today, the moto jackets and loud prints are more popular than ever and seen on models and celebrities. SUBSCRIBE for more videos: http://goo.gl/LPWD04 This year I had the oppurtunity to work with NASCAR and learn more about the sport. I was amazed by the athleticism and skill involved with car racing. In this video I share how being in New York has done just that for me. Being in New York has not only changed my style, but also changed how I see myself for the better. 1. New York has made me more adventurous with my style: I feel freer to experiment with different style and color combinations. 2. New York has has made me feel better about my body: Flat shoes are a essential in New York:  This has meant that I have had to come to terms with my height or the lack there of.  I have managed to find stylish flats that work well with my style and a few shoe styles with a little bit of a heel. My pale skin:  I was self conscious about my pale skin for many years.  In New York, being different is celebrated instead of everyone trying to be the same.  This has helped me come to love my pale skin rather than trying to cover it with self tan. Although many of you may not live in New York, I think it is about making the decision to wear what you want and love the body you have. What are the areas you could come to love more? The Kendall Jenner Effect On The Fashion And Modeling Industry. Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/hHvOf8 We all know fashion is always changing, but so is the way we view it. Instagram influencers like Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and more have changed the way the fashion industry operates and even what products they offer. And no other model holds more sway in the world of social media than Kendall Jenner. Some people may claim she’s not a true supermodel and is simply a model of the moment, but that hasn’t stopped her for making hundreds of thousands of dollars for a simple social media post. However, this doesn’t mean she’s above reproach and recently her Proactiv campaign caused some serious backlash with her fans. Kendall Jenner may rule the fashion industry, but for how long? 9 Inventions That Changed Fashion Once and for All

06:06
Fashion is inconsistent, yet there are a couple of things that never seem to leave the runways. We decided to dig into the history of cult fashion items, which not only changed fashion but the planet as a whole. TIMESTAMPS Jeans 0:32 Bras 1:06 Bikini 1:46 Little Black Dress 2:57 Nylon Stockings 3:37 Leather Jacket 3:37 Miniskirt 4:06 Mackintosh Trench Coat 4:41 Heels 5:18 SUMMARY - In 1873, entrepreneur Levi Strauss secured a patent to create the famous blue jeans. At the time, it was designed as men’s workwear: overalls with pockets for a knife and coins. - In ancient times, women wore breast bandages, followed by corsets, and only by the early 20th century did the bra take the shape we know today. The first bras were made by the brand Caresse Crosby. - Paris, 1946. A model walked the fashion runway in a two-piece swimsuit created by designer Louis Réard, causing a wide controversy with her provocative bikini debut. - According to another legend, Chanel came up with the dress in 1926 as a tribute to her deceased lover. Her creation caused a sensation in the fashion world, and Vogue called it "Chanel’s Ford." - Before the 20th century, fashionistas did not have much choice on this front: stockings were either woolen and itchy or silky and short lived. Until 1935, when American chemists DuPont introduced nylon, a fiber which promised to be stronger than steel and thinner than a spider web. - In 1928, the Schott company developed a leather jacket with a zipper, which later became known as a biker jacket. Of course, leather jackets became popularized when they were seen on Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando. - In the late ’50s, the miniskirt became a bestseller, as well as a subject of fury among the general population. But once the rebellious ’60s struck, a miniskirt became a necessary attribute of every woman. - Chemist Charles Mackintosh accidentally dropped a rubber solution on his suit and noticed that the fabric became waterproof. He started a company specializing in waterproof coats. - In the 16th century, heeled boots were comfortable to wear for horse riders as they didn’t slide through the stirrups. Stiletto heels appeared only in the 20th century, and they are now a wardrobe necessity of every woman.
