Mozart - Requiem

08:54
Requiem Mass in D Minor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's final Masterpiece was commissioned in mid 1791 by the Austrian count Franz Von Walsegg, as a Tribute to the passing of his young wife Anna. Mozart began his final composition in Prague, suffering from an undetermined illness, which would eventually take his life and rob him of the chance to see the completion of his Magnum Opus. After Mozart's death, his understudy 'Franz Xaver Süssmayr', at the behest of Mozart's wife, completed the missing parts of the Requiem. Requiem Mass was first performed on January 2, 1793, in a private concert for the benefit of Mozart's grieving wife, Constanze Mozart. The Following are the lyrics, translated from their Original Latin Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. You are praised, God, in Zion, and homage will be paid to You in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer, to You all flesh will come. Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us. Day of wrath, day of anger will dissolve the world in ashes, as foretold by David and the Sibyl. Great trembling there will be when the Judge descends from heaven to examine all things closely. The trumpet will send its wondrous sound throughout earth's sepulchres and gather all before the throne. Death and nature will be astounded, when all creation rises again, to answer the judgment. A book will be brought forth, in which all will be written, by which the world will be judged. When the judge takes his place, what is hidden will be revealed, nothing will remain unavenged. What shall a wretch like me say? Who shall intercede for me, when the just ones need mercy? King of tremendous majesty, who freely saves those worthy ones, save me, source of mercy. Remember, kind Jesus, my salvation caused your suffering; do not forsake me on that day. Faint and weary you have sought me, redeemed me, suffering on the cross; may such great effort not be in vain. Righteous judge of vengeance, grant me the gift of absolution before the day of retribution. I moan as one who is guilty: owning my shame with a red face; suppliant before you, Lord. You, who absolved Mary, and listened to the thief, give me hope also. My prayers are unworthy, but, good Lord, have mercy, and rescue me from eternal fire. Provide me a place among the sheep, and separate me from the goats, guiding me to Your right hand. When the accused are confounded, and doomed to flames of woe, call me among the blessed. I kneel with submissive heart, my contrition is like ashes, help me in my final condition. That day of tears and mourning, when from the ashes shall arise, all humanity to be judged. Spare us by your mercy, Lord, gentle Lord Jesus, grant them eternal rest. Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory, liberate the souls of the faithful, departed from the pains of hell and from the bottomless pit. Deliver them from the lion's mouth, lest hell swallow them up, lest they fall into darkness. Let the standard-bearer, holy Michael, bring them into holy light. Which was promised to Abraham and his descendants. Sacrifices and prayers of praise, Lord, we offer to You. Receive them in behalf of those souls we commemorate today. And let them, Lord, pass from death to life, which was promised to Abraham and his descendants. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant them eternal rest. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Grant them eternal rest. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant them eternal rest forever. Let eternal light shine on them, Lord, as with Your saints in eternity, because You are merciful. Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them, as with Your saints in eternity, because You are merciful.

Mozart - "Leck mich im Arsch" - Canon in B flat for 6 Voices, K. 231 / K. 382c

02:23
Leck mich im Arsch (literally "Lick me in the arse") is a canon in B-flat major composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, K. 231 (K. 382c), with lyrics in German. It was one of a set of at least six canons probably written in Vienna in 1782. Sung by six voices as a three-part round, it is thought to be a party piece for his friends. A literal translation of the song's title and lyrics into English would be "Lick me in the arse". A more idiomatic translation would be "Kiss my arse!" Mozart died in 1791 and his widow, Constanze Mozart, sent the manuscripts of the canons to publishers Breitkopf & Härtel in 1799, saying that they would need to be adapted for publication. The publisher changed the title and lyrics of this canon to the more acceptable "Laßt froh uns sein" ("Let us be glad!"), similar to the traditional German Christmas carol, "Lasst uns froh und munter sein". Of Mozart's original text, only the first words were documented in Breitkopf publishers' catalogue of his works. A new text version, which may have been the authentic one, came to light in 1991. Handwritten texts to this and several other similar canons were found added to a printed score of the work in an historical printed edition acquired by Harvard University's Music Library. They had evidently been added to the book by a later hand. However, since in six of the pieces these entries matched texts that had, in the meantime, independently come to light in original manuscripts, it was hypothesised that the remaining three may, too, have been original, including texts for K. 231 ("Leck mich im Arsch" itself), and another Mozart work, "Leck mir den Arsch fein recht schön sauber" ("Lick my arse nice and clean", K. 233; K. 382d in the revised numbering). Later research has indicated that the latter composition is probably the work of Wenzel Trnka (1739--91). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE .mp3 and .wav files of all Mozart's music at: http://www.mozart-archiv.de/ FREE sheet music scores of any Mozart piece at: http://dme.mozarteum.at/DME/nma/start.php?l=2 ALSO check out these cool sites: http://musopen.org/ and http://imslp.org/wiki/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: I do not know who the performers of this are, nor the place and date of recording!!! We loved it. It combined two of the things we are working to accomplish -- inviting people to classical music and inspiring young musicians. Steven Sharp Nelson had soloed with the orchestra the previous year and loved the spirit and the talent that the orchestra showed at such young ages (ages 13-18!) Together we developed the concept of "Beethoven's 5 Secrets," combining OneRepublic's tune "Secrets" with melodies and moments from all four movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. We used 5 different melodies from the 4 movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony (not including the "bridge" the orchestra plays in the middle). Try to guess where they are and where they come from! What are Beethoven's secrets? He had many. His most prominent secret that he desperately tried to keep from the public and that caused him to be considered extremely eccentric, irritable, and hermit-like was his "weakness." He was deaf during most of his life. Imagine that...one of the greatest composers that ever lived could hardly hear. And yet, he wrote his life's greatest works after becoming deaf. He believed that art itself had "secrets" that had to be "forced into" in order to obtain art's highest level. There is no doubt Beethoven discovered many of the "secrets" of art -- people all over the world enjoy them every day. He was a true master of music, blessed by God. But six weeks after he tells his wife that he has been poisoned, the great composer is dead. The city is buzzing with rumors of infidelity, bankruptcy and murder. Wolfgang's sister Nannerl refuses to believe such base gossip. As she looks closer, Nannerl finds traces of something sinister: a Masonic secret that might just be connected to Wolfgang's death. 7 SECRET Messages Hidden in Famous Art

08:18
7 SECRET Messages Hidden in Famous Art These are 7 SECRET Messages Hidden in Famous Art such as The Last Supper, a painting of Bill Clinton, and more. Narration provided by JaM Advertising New Mexico www.tasteofjam.com Leonardo Da Vinci was a man of many talents; he was an inventor, architect, scientist, sculptor, and of course an artist. But there’s one more talent Da Vinci is known for which may have been hidden in one of his most famous works, The Last Supper, and that talent was music. Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam is one of the most iconic images in human history, depicting the Book of Genesis scene where God breathes life into Adam…through his fingers obviously, because a painting of the Lord Almighty going mouth to mouth with Adam may have been a little risqué for the walls of the Sistine Chapel. But in 1990 an American physician Dr Frank Meshberger noticed something familiar about the area surrounding God. What is that weird shape that the Lord seems to be crowdsurfing out from? Take a look at this image of Domenico Ghirlandaio’s painting the Madonna with Saint Giovannino and see what catches your eye immediately. Is it the attractive lady in the centre, perhaps it’s the baby with the low slung slacks trying to give her a high five while an angel baby checks out his sweet six pack. That kid is more ripped than I’ll ever be. Or maybe the first thing you noticed was the strange object hovering in the sky, and the dude below it wondering what the hell it is. 4.) A Message For The Pope This is Michelangelo’s The Prophet Zechariah, and it was painted in the Sistine Chapel in 1512 during the reign of Pope Julius the second. Now to say Pope Julius wasn’t everybody’s favourite is a bit like saying people thought the new Call of Duty trailer looked a little crappy. Julius the second was known as Il Papa Terrible, and you can translate that for yourself. But Michelangelo wasn’t a fan either, and it is believed that he painted Zechariah in a way which closely resembles Pope Julius. So we already know that Leonardo Da Vinci likes to hide musical scores in his work, but what secrets could possibly remain hidden in the Mona Lisa, one of the world’s most famous pictures of someone being forced to smile on picture day? Many theories have been thrown around regarding the layout of the picture, such as the idea that Mona Lisa was pregnant due to the arrangements of her hands, that she may have been a prostitute due to her lack of facial hair, and when the image was analysed by a doctor he noticed that Mona Lisa may have been suffering from a tumour in her right eye, a tumour Da Vinci clearly must’ve noticed, so did he tell her? This is a portrait of former President Bill Clinton which hangs in the Smithsonian Natural Portrait Gallery, and its artist Nelson Shanks has admitted that hidden within the painting is a reference to one of the most shocking moments of Clinton’s presidency. 1.) The Mysterious Musical Maestro This is a painting of classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when he was just six years old. The painting was created by Pietro Antonio Lorenzoni in 1763, but did you know that the way Mozart is depicted hints at his membership of the world’s most secretive society? The mysterious Freemasons.

Imagine Mozart and Adele in the same room in an intense co-write session, quill and pen in hand, respectively. Picturing this hypothetical hangout helped to spark the creative combination of the two. Haven't heard "Lacrimosa" from Mozart's Requiem? It is a powerful piece of music. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhYCaQkbkyw As you can hear, both tunes' divergent traits presented challenges. One wallows in a wide, painstakingly minor 12/8 time and the other drives a poignant bi-polar major/minor common time. One draws its power from the fullness of a grand chorus and orchestra, the other from the isolation of a lone voice and piano. One conforms to age-old counterpart canon and musical theory, while the other is conveyed via verse/chorus pop song parlance. However, they share the same fundamental feeling -- "Lacrimosa" (meaning "weeping" or "tearful") mournfully bemoans spiritual death, while "Hello" gripes about relationship regrets. Different centuries. Different realms. Same emotion. Perhaps we aren't as far from our predecessors as we think we are. You'll hear towards the end of the tune an attempt by both motifs to meet in the middle as the two textured melodies intertwine. In their respective stories both plead for reconciliation. Neither seemed to find it apart, but together they sing of a second chance. The sounds you hear were created by 100 tracks of acoustic and electric cello, an instrument that has been emoting for centuries – an apt candidate for the task of tying together "Hellocrimosa" (our alternate affectionate title). This video was filmed at one of our favorite locations: Tuacahn Amphitheatre, utilizing different patterns and settings of giant mirrors, diffused light, and some very cold fog. How is the camera not reflected in the mirrors? Simple. Magic! Secret Garden- Song from a Secret Garden

03:35
This is the third song from Secret Gardens album Songs From a Secret Garden, from 1995. "The idea of Secret Garden is one that everyone can relate to. We all have landscapes inside us, secret rooms where feelings and impressions grow as a little garden. We have individual ways of finding this garden. Some talk about it, write poems or letters, paint, or even talk a walk to reflect over life. We all have our own way. But what is common to us, is a strong emotional feeling that is an essential part of our nature. My way of dealing with this is through music, and everything I write comes from my secret garden. This simple piece had no other name than Pianopiece in C Minor for many years. But when the Secret Garden project evolved, I felt this piece could express the essence of my ideas- the simple melody strait from the heart, expressed through Fionnualas soulful, vulnerable and naked violin playing." -Rolf Lovland

But for those of you who can still focus for five minutes, here's the full "Director's Cut" of our book video.

Mozart in Vienna - Documentary about Mozart's life (with English subtitles)

58:42
On the 16th of March, 1781 at 9 0'clock in the morning the 25 year old Mozart arrives in Vienna. The last ten years of his life will be spent in this city. In this period he writes such masterpieces as the "Magic Flute", his most important symphonies and the Requiem. In Vienna Mozart takes charge of his own works by becoming the first ever freelance composer. In Vienna he meets world famous composers and librettists. Here is where he reaches the limits of his popularity. "Believe me…fame doesn’t last very long here …after only a few months the Viennese already want something new.", wrote Mozart to his father. After ten years of living in Vienna he acquires a sickness which leads to his death in December 1791. Mozart, who changed apartments eleven times within those ten years was buried in a pauper’s grave at the cemetery of St. Marxer in Vienna. Mozart in Vienna traces in 60 minutes the most critical years of his life. Examining Vienna’s authentic Mozart sites such as the Mozart House at Domgasse 5 ("Figaro-Haus"), the Theater an der Wien and the Stefansdom helps put into focus Mozart’s special connection to the city and the Viennese relationship to Mozart. With Peter Sellars, Thomas Quasthoff, Daniel Barenboim, Angelika Kirchschlager, Martin Haselböck, Robert Levin, Peter Gülke, Gernot Gruber, Volkmar Braunbehrens and Herbert Lachmayer. A documentary by Marieke Schroeder

Lindsey and Steven Sharp Nelson (cello guy) shared the stage at a concert. After the show, they talked enthusiastically about a YouTube collaboration down the road. A year and a half and a million fan requests later and it's finally here! We love Lindsey Stirling! It feels like we're family -- we started on YouTube around the same time, we "grew up" in the same place, we all LOVE what we do and we're all REALLY good dancers...except for ThePianoGuys. =) We chose the theme from "Mission: Impossible" because we thought it would be a great music video to "be ourselves" in -- to play off each other, throw in some special effects, a couple "stunts," and some slapstick! The concept for the song and video began with spy gadgets -- we wanted all of them to be string instrument parts! Then how would we pair up graceful, pro-dancer Lindsey and not-so-graceful Steve? =) It was simple. Steve had to carry around his own chair! Then the graceful/not-so-graceful thing contrasted beautifully! When Jon Schmidt (Piano Guy) was cast as the "villain" and donned an eye patch we knew we were on to something...(Read rest of the story here http://thepianoguys.com/portfolio/mission-impossible-pianocelloviolin-ft-lindsey-stirling/ ) Filming locations: THANK YOU to Stephen Wade Auto for serving as our last minute filming location when all others fell through!
