JSR 353: Java API for JSON Processing

55:29
JSON is a lightweight data exchange format used increasingly in RESTful Web services by highly visible Websites (Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and the like). The format is easy for humans and machines to read and write. JSON is quickly becoming the primary choice for developers for consuming and creating Web services. JSR 353: Java API for JSON Processing intends to create a standard Java API for JSON so that the applications that use the API are smaller and portable. The goal of the API is to produce/consume JSON text in a streaming fashion and also to build a Java object model for JSON text. Attend this session for a JSR update, discussion of the API, and information on how to utilize this API in applications. Copyright © 2013 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Running Oracle Forms 11g Applications Using Java Web Start Launcher, No Any Web Browser Required

17:31
How to run oracle form in any browser? How to run Oracle Forms Applications without Web Browser? The Java Plugin has been used by Oracle Forms for many years. Browser technology has since evolved beyond the need or desire to continue supporting plugins of any kind. With modern browser vendors working to restrict and reduce plugin support in their products so it's getting increasingly difficult to run Java applets through browsers, which is a problem for Oracle Forms applications. Developers of applications that rely on the Java browser plugin need to consider alternative options such as migrating from Java Applets (which rely on a browser plugin) to the plugin-free Java Web Start technology. This video tutorial describes the steps to deploy Forms applications using Java(TM) Web Start Launcher. You'll learn how to run Oracle Forms Applications with Java Web Start Launcher from the Desktop or the Java Cache Viewer by creating JNLP File. Even though Java plug-in does not work in web browsers after installing Java, Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release still supports NAPAPI plug-ins. Alternatively we shall download and install Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release to run Oracle Forms Applications. You'll also learn how to manage and configure Java Security Exception Site List and set the security level within the Java Control Panel to get rid of the following errors or Java exceptions. (You can add the URL of the application to Exception Site List) oracle.forms.engine.Main ExitException: Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system. The following resource is signed with a weak signature algorithm MD5withRSA and is treated as unsigned: http:XXXX:7001/forms/java/frmall.jar This application will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. Run this application only if you trust the location and publisher above. Applications Blocked by Java Security. Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running. Java 9 Makes Creating Collections easy

12:06
Java 9 made it really easy for us to create collections that contain a small number of elements. For a long time Java has had a bad rep for being too verbose, and rightfully so but with the last few releases I think they have really started to address that. In today’s tutorial, we are going to look at some static factory methods that make it really easy to create collections. Task Processing, APIs, and Big Data in JavaScript

55:00
https://developer.oracle.com/code/online | Pratik Patel: There are tons of options for doing data processing in other languages such as Java and Python. With actionhero.js, you can use Node.js's event loop model to create a scalable and cohesive API for processing and serving large amounts of data. From the actionhero.js documentation, here's a quick synopsis of this great framework: actionhero.js is a multi-transport API server with integrated cluster capabilities and delayed tasks. The goal of actionhero.js is to create an easy-to-use toolkit for making reusable and scalable APIs. In this session, we'll use actionhero.js to build some examples, with lots of code, to demonstrate the capabilities of this framework. We'll consume some data, do some task processing, then access the data via an API. We'll use WebSockets along with standard HTTP to build a real-time, web-enabled, application.

Exploring Java 8 Streams

25:11
Java 8 brought a number of new features to Java, one of those features was the Streams API. This API brought an easy way to create functional style list manipulation elements using a simple API. This is extremely powerful and allows you to create extremely complex interactions with relatively little code. For those familiar with C#, the Java Streams API offers a core feature set very similar to what you can do with LINQ. Certain syntactic limitations exist as well as a lack of extension methods to easily expand the system. Java solves these differences in other ways. The java Stream javadocs are here: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/util/stream/Stream.html Curious about the Reactive Extensions and how they're different? Array Linked to a List, the full story! by José Paumard

02:29:37
Should LinkedList be deprecated? This question might look like one more useless troll if had not been asked by Stuart Marks, Java/JDK/OpenJDK developer at Oracle, a true expert of the subject, currently working on the evolutions of the Collection Framework for Java 9 and beyond. Followed a long thread with many fine contributions that we will see. It turns out that answering this question takes us for quite a long journey, from algorithms and their complexity to memory footprint and CPU caches usage. We will show how to evaluate the performance and the main data structures in the Collection Framework: ArayList, LinkedList, HashSet, HashMap using JMH, now the JDK standard for microbenchmarking. We will also see alternative Collection implementations. This talk will cover the notions of pointer chasing, CPU caches, and what Java 9 brings for the Collection Framework. Lastly, we will show how to implement collections and hashmaps with lambda expressions. José Paumard is an assistant professor at the Institut Galilée (Université Paris 13) and a PhD in applied mathematics from the ENS de Cachan. He has discovered the Java language in 1995, and has been teaching the Java technologies at the university since 1998. José is also a Java Champion and Java Rockstar. José has also been working as an independant for numerous companies, in a variety of areas. He is a well known Java / Java EE expert and trainer. He also publishes "Java le soir", a technical blog in french (http://blog.paumard.org/), with about 750 pages of courses about Java / JEE in open access. [SBX-4851]

This tutorial will cover use of the try-catch-finally code block as well as use of the "throws" keyword. You can find the Java exceptions as a list here: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/Exception.html . Note that some of the listed exceptions have subclasses that are exceptions as well (e.g. RuntimeException). Thanks for watching! :D Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2B0D071533E7D993

Java String - Explained | String Tutorial in Java | Java9s.com

05:08
http://java9s.com String is the most widely used object type in Java. Because of this, String Objects enjoy some extra privilege from JVM Just like any other object, we can use a new operator to create a String. There are around thirteen different constructors provided by String class. We can just use the quotes to create a String object. Remember that all the strings in Java are maintained as a character array in the background. String object wraps this array and provides some additional functionality to edit, search and work with text. All string objects are maintained in a separate heap called String constant pool. String class is declared as final which makes it not possible to be extended. What's New in Java Message Service 2.0

59:58
JMS is the Java standard for accessing enterprise messaging systems. This session introduces JMS 2.0 (JSR 343), the first update in more than a decade and easily the longest-awaited component of the forthcoming Java EE 7 standard. The biggest new feature of JMS 2.0 is a new API that makes JMS much easier to use, especially in a Java EE application. JMS 2.0 also provides API features to support greater scalability as well as additional messaging features, changes to support PaaS and Saas deployment, and a long list of minor enhancements and clarifications. With JMS 2.0 entering its public draft review stage, now is an ideal time to find out more about it and give your views. Copyright © 2013 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Lesson - 02 : J2EE Basics - API in Java Programming Language

10:52
There are two types of Java Programming Language Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): 1. The official CORE Java API, contained in the Android (Google), SE (OpenJDK and Oracle), MicroEJ (IS2T). These packages (java.* packages) are the core Java language packages, meaning that programmers using the Java language had to use them in order to make any worthwhile use of the java language. 2. Optional APIs that can be downloaded separately. The specification of these APIs are defined according to many different organizations in the world (Alljoyn, OSGi, Eclipse, JCP, E-S-R, ... ).

What is an API?

03:25
What exactly is an API? Finally learn for yourself in this helpful video from MuleSoft, the API experts. https://www.mulesoft.com/platform/api The textbook definition goes something like this: “An application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API expresses a software component in terms of its operations, inputs, outputs, and underlying types. An API defines functionalities that are independent of their respective implementations, which allows definitions and implementations to vary without compromising each other. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. APIs often come in the form of a library that includes specifications for routines, data structures, object classes, and variables. In other cases, notably SOAP and REST services, an API is simply a specification of remote calls exposed to the API consumers. An API specification can take many forms, including an International Standard, such as POSIX, vendor documentation, such as the Microsoft Windows API, or the libraries of a programming language, e.g., the Standard Template Library in C++ or the Java APIs. An API differs from an application binary interface (ABI) in that an API is source code-based while an ABI is a binary interface. For instance POSIX is an API, while the Linux Standard Base provides an ABI”. To speak plainly, an API is the messenger that runs and delivers your request to the provider you’re requesting it from, and then delivers the response back to you. To give you a familiar example, think of an API as a waiter in a restaurant. Imagine you’re sitting at the table with a menu of choices to order from, and the kitchen is the provider who will fulfill your order. What’s missing is the critical link to communicate your order to the kitchen and deliver your food back to your table. That’s where the waiter (or API) comes in. ”AHEM” The waiter takes your order, delivers it to the kitchen, and then delivers the food (or response) back to you. (Hopefully without letting your order crash if designed correctly) Now that we’ve whetted your appetite, let’s apply this to a real API example. In keeping with our theme, let’s book a flight to a culinary capital – Paris. You’re probably familiar with the process of searching for airline flights online. Just like at a restaurant, you have a menu of options to choose from ( a dropdown menu in this case). You choose a departure city and date, a return city and date, cabin class, and other variables (like meal or seating, baggage or pet requests) In order to book your flight, you interact with the airline’s website to access the airline’s database to see if any seats are available on those dates, and what the cost might be based on certain variables. But, what if you are not using the airline’s website, which has direct access to the information? What if you are using online travel service that aggregates information from many different airlines? Just like a human interacts with the airline’s website to get that information, an application interacts with the airline’s API. The API is the interface that, like your helpful waiter, runs and and delivers the data from that online travel service to the airline’s systems over the Internet. It also then takes the airline’s response to your request and delivers right back to the online travel service . And through each step of the process it facilitates that interaction between the travel service and the airline’s systems - from seat selection to payment and booking. So now you can see that it’s APIs that make it possible for us all to use travel sites. They interface with with airlines’ APIs to gather information in order to present options back to us The same goes for all interactions between applications, data and devices - they all have API’s that allow computers to operate them, and that's what ultimately creates connectivity. API’s provide a standard way of accessing any application, data or device whether it is shopping from your phone, or accessing cloud applications at work. So, whenever you think of an API, just think of it as your waiter running back and forth between applications, databases and devices to deliver data and create the connectivity that puts the world at our fingertips. And whenever you think of creating an API, think MuleSoft.
