OVER JORDAN ACROSS THE SEA – People & Songs

04:03
Kaden Slay draws on his Mississippi roots for this version of “Over Jordan Across The Sea,” along with Melanie Tierce-Slay and Ryan Kennedy. A few thoughts from co-writer Jennie Lee Riddle: “We wanted to write a song that didn’t just talk about celebrating, but gave us all the reason to do so! We are going HOME, y’all! We wanted some old-fashioned foot-stomping fun to go with Kaden’s voice. We wanted to laugh and have a good time with each other and the Lord—and give the Church of all generations encouragement to do the same! Hope you enjoy!” Lyrics, Chord Sheet, Lead Sheet and Vocal Sheet available in SongSelect: https://songselect.ccli.com/Songs/7112125/over-jordan-across-the-sea Visit CCLI's website: https://us.ccli.com/ Connect with CCLI: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CCLI.Global/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ccli.global/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CCLI/ Video production by CCLI. The Sea Peoples and the Trojan War (Lecture 4)

32:23
Archaeology and the Trojan War: In this lecture series by Eric H.Cline you will delve deep into the Trojan war between the Trojans and the Greeks while separating fact from fiction. The Trojan War, captured forever in Homer's epic poem the Iliad, resonates to the present day in the popular imagination, and this magnificent confrontation continues to exert a tremendous influence on modern audiences. But did Troy actually exist? And if so, where is it located? Was the Trojan War actually fought? If it was, did it take place over the course of ten years, as Homer wrote, or was it a much longer series of battles? And why was the war fought? Could Helen's face alone really have launched a thousand ships? In this course, esteemed professor Eric H. Cline examines the real history of Troy and delves into the archaeological discoveries (which continue to the present day) that help to answer the questions above. Through an entertaining and incisive analysis of known data, Professor Cline provides a fuller, richer understanding of this historic clash.

Sea Peoples: The 1200 BC System Collapse

18:01
In the 12th century B.C., after centuries of brilliance, the civilized and globalized world of the Bronze Age came to an abrupt and cataclysmic end. Kingdoms fell like dominoes over the course of just a few decades. No more Minoans or Mycenaeans. No more Trojans, Hittites, or Babylonians. The thriving economies and cultures of the late second millennium B.C., which had stretched from Greece to Egypt and Mesopotamia, suddenly ceased to exist, along with writing systems, technology, and monumental architecture. Lyrics: You look so wonderful in your dress I love your hair like that The way it falls on the side of your neck Down your shoulders and back We are surrounded by all of these lies And people who talk too much You've got that kind of look in your eyes As if no one knows anything but us Should this be the last thing I see I want you to know it's enough for me 'Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need So in love, so in love So in love, so in love You look so beautiful in this light Your silhouette over me The way it brings out the blue in your eyes Is the Tenerife Sea And all of the voices surrounding us here They just fade out when you take a breath Just say the word and I will disappear Into the wilderness Should this be the last thing I see I want you to know it's enough for me 'Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need So in love, so in love So in love, so in love [x3:] Lumière, darling Lumière over me Should this be the last thing I see I want you to know it's enough for me 'Cause all that you are is all that I'll ever need So in love, so in love So in love, love, love, love So in love You look so wonderful in your dress I love your hair like that And in a moment I knew you, Beth

Floating in the Dead Sea ...You Can't Sink!

03:04
The Dead Sea (Hebrew: יָם הַמֶּלַח, Yam ha-Melah, "Sea of Salt", also Hebrew: יָם הַמָּוֶת, Yam ha-Mavet, "The Sea of Death", and Arabic: البحر الميت‎‎ About this sound Al-Bahr al-Mayyit (help·info)), also called the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and Palestine to the west. Its surface and shores are 429 metres (1,407 ft) below sea level, Earth's lowest elevation on land. The Dead Sea is 304 m (997 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. With 34.2% salinity (in 2011), it is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean, and one of the world's saltiest bodies of water. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which plants and animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea is 50 kilometers (31 mi) long and 15 kilometers (9 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea water has a density of 1.24 kg/liter, which makes swimming similar to floating. Biblical period- Dwelling in caves near the Dead Sea is recorded in the Hebrew Bible as having taken place before the Israelites came to Canaan, and extensively at the time of King David. Just northwest of the Dead Sea is Jericho. Somewhere, perhaps on the southeastern shore, would be the cities mentioned in the Book of Genesis which were said to have been destroyed in the time of Abraham: Sodom and Gomorra (Genesis 18) and the three other "Cities of the Plain", Admah, Zeboim and Zoar (Deuteronomy 29:23). Zoar escaped destruction when Abraham's nephew Lot escaped to Zoar from Sodom (Genesis 19:21-22). Before the destruction, the Dead Sea was a valley full of natural tar pits, which was called the vale of Siddim. King David was said to have hidden from Saul at Ein Gedi nearby. In Ezekiel 47:8-9 there is a specific prophecy that the sea will ".. be healed and made fresh", becoming a normal lake capable of supporting marine life. A similar prophecy is stated in Zechariah 14:8, which says that "Living waters will go out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea (likely the Dead Sea) and half to the western sea (the Mediterranean)..." Greek and Roman period- Aristotle wrote about the remarkable waters. The Nabateans and others discovered the value of the globs of natural asphalt that constantly floated to the surface where they could be harvested with nets. The Egyptians were steady customers, as they used asphalt in the embalming process that created mummies. The Ancient Romans knew the Dead Sea as "Palus Asphaltites" (Asphalt Lake). King Herod the Great built or rebuilt several fortresses and palaces on the western bank of the Dead Sea. The most famous was Masada, where in 70 CE a small group of Jewish zealots fled after the fall of the destruction of the Second Temple. The zealots survived until 73 CE, when a siege by the X Legion ended in the deaths by suicide of its 960 inhabitants. Another historically important fortress was Machaerus (מכוור), on the eastern bank, where, according to Josephus, John the Baptist was imprisoned by Herod Antipas and died. Also in Roman times, some Essenes settled on the Dead Sea's western shore; Pliny the Elder identifies their location with the words, "on the west side of the Dead Sea, away from the coast ... [above] the town of Engeda" (Natural History, Bk 5.73); and it is therefore a hugely popular but contested hypothesis today, that same Essenes are identical with the settlers at Qumran and that "the Dead Sea Scrolls" discovered during the 20th century in the nearby caves had been their own library. Josephus identified the Dead Sea in geographic proximity to the ancient Biblical city of Sodom. However, he referred to the lake by its Greek name, Asphaltites. Various sects of Jews settled in caves overlooking the Dead Sea. The best known of these are the Essenes of Qumran, who left an extensive library known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. The town of Ein Gedi, mentioned many times in the Mishna, produced persimmon for the temple's fragrance and for export, using a secret recipe. "Sodomite salt" was an essential mineral for the temple's holy incense, but was said to be dangerous for home use and could cause blindness. The Roman camps surrounding Masada were built by Jewish slaves receiving water from the towns around the lake. These towns had drinking water from the Ein Feshcha springs and other sweetwater springs in the vicinity. Byzantine period- Intimately connected with the Judean wilderness to its northwest and west, the Dead Sea was a place of escape and refuge. The remoteness of the region attracted Greek Orthodox monks since the Byzantine era. Their monasteries, such as Saint George in Wadi Kelt and Mar Saba in the Judean Desert, are places of pilgrimage.
THE EXODUS - GOD parts the RED SEA through MOSES

06:24
The Exodus - God parts the Red Sea through Moses. The Ten Commandments 2006 version combined with Exodus 14 brings this amazing historical event to life as God parts the Red Sea through Moses. Enjoy! The Exodus - God parts the Red Sea through Moses. Exodus 14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? Exodus 14:6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: Exodus 14:7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. Exodus 14:8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. Exodus 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. Exodus 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. Exodus 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Exodus 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. Exodus 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: Exodus 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. Exodus 14:18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. Exodus 14:19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: Exodus 14:20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. Exodus 14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. Exodus 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. Exodus 14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, Exodus 14:25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. Exodus 14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. Exodus 14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. Exodus 14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. Exodus 14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

The End of Civilization (In the Bronze Age): Crash Course World History 211

12:58
In which John Green teaches you about the Bronze Age civilization in what we today call the middle east, and how the vast, interconnected civilization that encompassed Egypt, The Levant, and Mesopotamia came to an end. What's that you say? There was no such civilization? Your word against ours. John will argue that through a complex network of trade and alliances, there was a loosely confederated and relatively continuous civilization in the region. Why it all fell apart was a mystery. Was it the invasion of the Sea People? An earthquake storm? Or just a general collapse, to which complex systems are prone? We'll look into a few of these possibilities. As usual with Crash Course, we may not come up with a definitive answer, but it sure is a lot of fun to think about. 🇮🇹 🇱🇾 Rescue at Sea: Migrants in the Mediterranean | People and Power

25:01
As long as there is war, poverty and insecurity in Africa and the Middle East, migrants and refugees will try and seek a better life in Europe. For many years now, one of the principle transit routes has been the dangerous sea crossing over the Mediterranean between Libya and Italy. Images of anxious people crammed into small and manifestly unsafe boats run by human traffickers have become sadly familiar around the world, as have the stories of sinkings and drownings that tragically are regularly attendant on these journeys. As a result, and against a background of hardening anti-migrant sentiment in Europe, the problem of how to best respond to and control this phenomenon - and reduce the number of fatalities - has become ever more hotly debated. For the last five years, EU navies have maintained a presence in the area to discourage people from making the journey. And since 2017, the Libyan coastguard, with the active support of the Italian government, has also become more active, mounting aggressive patrols off its long coastline. Both the EU and Libyan authorities insist their actions save lives and disrupt the criminal networks that feed off the migrants' desperation. But their methods, focused mainly on deterrence, policing and security are increasingly at odds with those of other groups operating in the area since 2014 - NGOs running maritime search and rescue (SAR) missions to aid migrants in peril. In August 2017, Italy asked all NGOs working in the area to sign a code of conduct, which in effect put strict legal and logistical constraints on their ability to operate. As a result, by mid-2018, only four NGOs were left pursuing SAR missions in the Mediterranean and there had been a number of highly charged stand-offs with the authorities. In March for example, after a tense altercation between Libyan coastguards and a vessel from Proactiva Open Arms involving 218 migrants and refugees, the NGO's ship was impounded in a Sicilian port for a month, with the crew held under investigation by the Italian authorities for allegedly "conspiring to facilitate illegal immigration". Then in June 2018, Italy refused to let the Aquarius - a ship run by SOS Mediterranee and Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - disembark 600 rescued migrants in Italian ports. When Malta also declined to accept them it became a Europe-wide dispute. Eventually, the migrants were off-loaded in Spain, but this and other incidents had a chilling effect on NGOs and for a time left the Libyan coastguard as almost the only rescue option in Central Mediterranean waters. Much of the opposition to the NGOs' activities seems to stem from a belief that their presence encourages migrants to embark on journeys they would otherwise avoid, or even, in the words of Italy's controversial new Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, that they act as a "taxi service". The NGOs reject this claim entirely, but it highlights the fundamental differences between humanitarian groups seeking to save lives on the open seas and those focused on trying to dissuade people from making the treacherous crossing in the first place. It also raises serious questions about the way that long-standing international maritime norms on nautical rescue are allegedly being ignored - with sometimes fatal consequences. What is clear is that when no-one is available to help those in peril, lives will be lost. In November 2018, the UNHCR said that more than 2,000 refugees and migrants have died on the Mediterranean route this year and that the number of drownings has escalated sharply. In September alone, the refugee agency said one of every eight people making the dangerous journey towards Italy had been killed. This, it said, was due in part to the "legal and logistical restrictions that have been placed on a number of NGOs wishing to conduct search and rescue (SAR) operations." While the agency acknowledged the efforts of the Libyan coastguard in saving lives where it could, it added that any vessel with the capability should be allowed to come to the aid of those in need. Moreover, anyone rescued in international waters should not be taken back to Libya where conditions are not safe. With access to both sides, we sent filmmaker Paula Palacios to investigate the background to this complex debate and what may happen next.

8 GREAT TIPS FOR SURVIVAL AT SEA

06:11
Most of us adore beach resorts and go to one of the large saltwater bodies at least once a year. However, we shouldn’t forget that the sea is as attractive as it is wayward. We at Bright Side wondered how a person who happened to be in the open sea should behave. It turns out there are several rules that aren’t at all difficult to remember. Despair is your most dangerous enemy. Don’t give up hope of being saved. There are many stories of people who were found in the open sea months after their disappearance. For instance, 25-year-old sailor Poon Lim, who worked on a British merchant ship, survived alone 133 days in the open sea. After a shipwreck, he managed to find a raft with fresh water, cookies, flares, and a flashlight. Every day, Lim ate only 2 cookies and made 3 sips of water. To avoid muscle atrophy, he even floated around the raft twice a day. As you can see, human possibilities are endless. The main thing is to keep calm and hope for the best. TIMESTAMPS Calm down 0:35 Choose the right swimming style 0:57 Find something that floats 1:37 Take care of clothes 1:55 Decide what you’ll eat 2:16 Provide yourself with liquid 3:01 Save yourself properly 4:02 Don’t lose hope 5:06 SUMMARY: - Panic definitely won’t help you. It can cloud your judgment and make you lose the rhythm of breathing. Therefore, the first thing you should do is to calm down. - The style of swimming you choose determines how long your strength will last. In calm water, it’s better to swim on your back. If waves splash around you, it’s better to swim on your belly. - If you’re in the open sea as a result of a shipwreck or an airplane water landing, there must be plenty of things around you that perfectly keep afloat. It will be even better if it’s a boat or a raft with which ships are equipped. - Remember that open sunlight can be extremely dangerous. So don’t remove your clothes — they’ll protect you from the sun. - If you have rations, divide them into small daily portions. This will make them last for a long time, and you won’t have problems with digestion. - Try to fish even if you have stores of food. After all, fish contain some liquid. - You have to consume the liquid constantly but never drink seawater. - Try to ensure that you always have a couple of empty containers left for collecting rainwater. According to studies, drinking untreated rainwater is safe for your health. - • If you found fluorescein, dissolve it in the water when you see an airplane or ship. It forms a bright spot around you which can be easily seen from the air and from afar. I Crossed Countries by Sea in a Zorb Ball & You Won't Believe What Happened (Zorb at Sea Challenge)

20:10

10 Most AMAZING Things Ever Found Underwater

10 AMAZING things people have found under water. Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/cv6b96 @5:12 © JASON DECAIRES TAYLOR. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED, DACS / SODRAC (2017) With so much of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it’s no surprise that there are some pretty unbelievable findings beneath the water. Scientists and divers have discovered a bunch of things that would shock you, including entire cities, pyramids, and maybe even a UFO. One of the most astonishing underwater cities is known as Heracleion. It sunk to the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea and wasn’t discovered until the year 2000. French archaeologists found statues of ancient Pharaohs, works of art, gold coins, and a fleet of ships. Another city was sunk on purpose by the Chinese government, and it wasn’t rediscovered until 1959. Lion City is still in flawless condition, and the water has actually helped to preserve its ancient artefacts and structures. Hidden cities aren’t the only things that have been found below the water. A river was found with its very own waterfalls, trees, and leaves right below the Black Sea! It's like an entirely different world hidden beneath the surface of the water! There’s absolutely no limit to what you may find the next time you go deep sea diving. But if you don’t have any plans on exploring the abyss of the ocean anytime soon, we have pictures of some of the hidden deep sea and ocean gems that will surely shock you. If you would like to see the 10 most amazing things ever found underwater, make sure to watch our video. Let us know in the comments section which of these items is the most amazing to you! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheThingscom/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thethings.com/

Please watch: "The 10 Hottest Sex Positions Ranked By YOU" ➨ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkRFntsbb8k -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- During the late Bronze Age, civilization was progressing at an impressive rate in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean regions. Kingdoms rose, order was established, and technology advanced. The Mycenaean and Minoans had intricate palaces in Greece and Crete, the Hittites dominated what is now Turkey. And the Canaanites controlled what would become the holy land -- Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan. But in the years surrounding 1200 B.C., all of the would change. Over the course of a single generation, all of those civilizations would be almost entirely wiped off the map, and those that did survive would be set back a thousand years, losing the ability to write and turning back the clock on the sophistication of their art, architecture, and pottery in the hundred years to follow. This event was part of what is known as the Bronze Age collapse, and it remains one of the largest dark spots in historians' records. And one of the causes of this bizarre collapse was the mysterious "Sea Peoples" -- a technologically inferior, unaffiliated group of seafaring warriors who raided the lands and are often credited with the collapse of these once-great civilizations. The problem is, historians still have little if any idea of where these warriors came from, or what became of them after their conquest finally ended in Egypt. Also unknown is how the Sea Peoples managed to conquer civilizations hundreds of years more advanced in weaponry. But without solid records from the time, and with only scattered details of the origins of these strange raiders, we may never know their true identity. Lost At Sea - Jet Ski - Shot With Gopro - Samsung Galaxy S5 Saved Our Lives - Williams Family Fun

03:18
Please SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL! 😀 The Gopro recorded us jet skiing at 110 miles (exaggeration) an hour. After hitting a huge wave we flew about 40 feet away from the jet ski. It was very difficult to swim with the waves and the life vest. The waves pushed us further and further away from the jet ski and from each other. Thanks to emergency 911 dialing on the water resistant Galaxy S 5 we were able to contact 911/EMT and were rescued by the sheriff/Coast Guard. We were found by the coast guard 45 minutes later. It was around 6pm when they found us. Thank God becaseu it was starting to get dark. Everything was caught on filmed with a Gopro Hero 3+. I had to marry this guy after this experience! He kept me at peace the entire time. He kept telling me to stay calm when all I could think about was sharks ripping my feet off. MYCENAEANS : THE LOST CIVILIZATION - Full Documentary

45:26
Mycenaean Greece (or Mycenaean civilization) was the last phase of the Bronze Age in Ancient Greece (c. 1600–1100 BC). It represents the first advanced civilization in mainland Greece, with its palatial states, urban organization, works of art and writing system. Among the centers of power that emerged, the most notable were those of Pylos, Tiryns, Midea in the Peloponnese, Orchomenos, Thebes, Athens in Central Greece and Iolcos in Thessaly. The most prominent site was Mycenae, in Argolid, to which the culture of this era owes its name. Mycenaean and Mycenaean-influenced settlements also appeared in Epirus, Macedonia, on islands in the Aegean Sea, on the coast of Asia Minor, the Levant, Cyprus and Italy. The Mycenaean Greeks introduced several innovations in the fields of engineering, architecture and military infrastructure, while trade over vast areas of the Mediterranean was essential for the Mycenaean economy. Their syllabic script, the Linear B, offers the first written records of the Greek language and their religion already included several deities that can also be found in the Olympic Pantheon. Mycenaean Greece was dominated by a warrior elite society and consisted of a network of palace states that developed rigid hierarchical, political, social and economic systems. At the head of this society was the king, known as wanax. Mycenaean Greece perished with the collapse of Bronze Age culture in the eastern Mediterranean, to be followed by the so-called Greek Dark Ages, a recordless transitional period leading to Archaic Greece where significant shifts occurred from palace-centralized to de-centralized forms of socio-economic organization (including the extensive use of iron). Various theories have been proposed for the end of this civilization, among them the Dorian invasion or activities connected to the "Sea Peoples". Additional theories such as natural disasters and climatic changes have been also suggested. The Mycenaean period became the historical setting of much ancient Greek literature and mythology, including the Trojan Epic Cycle.

Israel kills 16 people on turkish aid convoi over sea

01:14
Israeli commandos armed with guns attacked the lead ship of a flotilla of aid-carrying vessels bound for Gaza on Monday, leaving several of the pro-Palestinian activists on board dead and many more injured. The Freedom Flotilla, a convoy of six ships carrying hundreds of activists, political leaders and journalists from around the world, was trying to deliver about 10,000 tonnes of basic aid including food, medicines, and construction material, in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza. While Israel has said activists were the first to attack the troops with bats and knives when they boarded the ship, the flotilla's organisers said that Israeli forces were the ones to open fire first. Al Jazeera's Ayman Moyheldin reports from Jerusalem.

The Trojan War: The Hittites (Lecture 3)

36:46
MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS - CAN'T HOLD US FEAT. RAY DALTON (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

Note from Ryan Lewis: It seems like when a music video comes out, the title that receives all of the credit and travels with a film is that of the director. It's as though the director is the "artist" or "creator" of the music video, when in reality a music video is first a written treatment, produced (putting together ingredients like actors and locations), shot and directed, cut on the editing board and finally color graded. The music might be fine tuned and scored specifically for that film. There are so many variables that are completely equal if not sometimes more complicated than directing, it's a shame that so much credit comes down to whoever fulfills that position. A director wouldn't have shit to direct without a producer. A producer would have nothing to produce without a writer, and so forth. For our team, I think it's even more complicated because roles tend to cross over. We simply don't work within the conventional hierarchy of the film industry (director, producer, etc.) Sure, people have concrete pre-defined roles based on their expertise, but our team has the remarkable ability to wear multiple hats. Can't Hold Us was a video that showcased this well. After three months of shooting, finally getting to those last few frames where you reveal the credits, it's a tense moment. There isn't exactly a sensible way to do it, if we're trying to fit people into classic film roles. It leads me to the point that although we do our best to give people titles, this was a video fully created by seven individuals at the forefront. Take any of those people out of the equation, you'd be watching a very different video. I write this in hopes that you don't fall under the illusion that one person creates a music video, particularly at the Macklemore camp. We are constantly challenging and enhancing each others ideas and I take pride in believing that's the reason we make great videos. - Ryan Lewis Music Video: Written By Ben Haggerty Ryan Lewis Tricia Davis Directed By Ryan Lewis Jason Koenig Jon Jon Augustavo Produced By Tricia Davis Honna Kimmerer Jenny Koenig Starring Ben Haggerty Ryan Lewis Ray Dalton Owuor Arunga Da Kadu Brown Director of Photography Jason Koenig Ryan Lewis Mego Lin Stedicam Operators Chris Duerkopp Rhys Duncan Ant Ireland Alex Kornreich Production Assistants Linda SImonsen Jackie Ganger Edward Tran Adam Leeman Nic Adenau Johnny Valencia Ben Campofreda Seth McDonald Mitchell Overton Lei Tao Editing & Color Grading Ryan Lewis Jason Koenig Post Production Supervisor Erik Hustad Special Thanks RED Panavision Victory Studios Koerner Camera Space Needle Ryan Sanson Lady Washington Logan Neitzel Sierra Blu Kennels USC FIJI House Niche Camera Karen Stimwell & Co. South China Sea Showdown: How Vietnam Would Wage War Against China

06:27
This video shows you that South China Sea Showdown: How Vietnam Would Wage War Against China. Vietnam has reason to worry about China — particularly China’s increasing presence in the South China Sea complete with air bases on artificial islands and a massive maritime militia comprised of fishing boats, with crews answering directly to the People’s Liberation Army. Vietnam has its own claims in the region, and recent naval patrols and a landing by a Chinese H-K bomber in the Paracel Islands — a first — have amounted to a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty, Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry stated on May 21. What’s less clear is how Vietnam would respond if tensions with China were to ever escalate to armed conflict. The scenario is not out of reach. China’s single war since the Korean War was with Vietnam in 1979. In 1988, Chinese troops and naval gunfire killed 64 Vietnamese soldiers at the Johnson South Reef. And during the past few years, Vietnam has patiently bolstered its military with the help of a long-time partner, Russia, clearly in response to China’s own maneuvers at sea. Vietnam’s military doctrine is also closely guarded, according to a recent article by defense analyst Derek Grossman of the RAND Corporation, a research institute with close ties to the U.S. Air Force. But there are a few key attributes of Vietnam strategy that tells us how it would likely confront China at sea — and those date back to wars Vietnam has fought, and won, in the past. ‘People’s war’ An important concept in Vietnamese warfighting is the “people’s war.” “How could the Vietnamese nation have defeated an imperialist power such as France which was backed by the U.S.?” the legendary Vietnamese general Vo Nguyen Giap wrote in People’s War, People’s Army, a 1961 book of military theory. “When the Resistance War spread to the whole country, the Indochinese Communist Party emphasized in its instructions that our Resistance War must be the work of the entire people. Therein lies the keys to victory.” This is somewhat different from “total war,” which often implies an indiscriminate set of targets for military action. “People’s war” refers to the social characteristics of an armed struggle waged by “masses” — for example, at the local level in the form of an armed village during the Vietnam War. The concept doesn’t easily translate to the sea. But according to Grossman, Vietnam has implemented the “people’s war” doctrine at least in part — primarily through the creation of a Vietnamese maritime militia called the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force or VFSF, mirroring the Chinese version. china sea, china south, china southern, china southern airlines, chinese airlines, chinese southern airlines, india us, india us relations, india usa, indo us, indo us relations, latest news in south china sea, south china, south china sea, south china sea conflict, south china sea dispute, south china sea news, south chinese sea, us india relations, usa to india ====================================================================================================== DISCLAIMER: Each and every content used in this video is not imaginary. Cyclone Idai: Flying over flooded Mozambique - BBC News

01:39
As Mozambique counts the cost of Cyclone Idai, the BBC's Africa editor Fergal Keane joined a helicopter flight over some of the worst-affected areas. The pilot pointed towards the east across the expanse of brown water. "We are 15 miles from the sea," he said, "but it feels as if we are right over it." He was right. Below us, farmland that had been home to thousands of people had disappeared. Charities say thousands of people are stranded by catastrophic flooding, clinging to roofs or stuck in trees. About 300 people are confirmed dead in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, but the toll is expected to rise. Please subscribe HERE http://bit.ly/1rbfUog

5 Stubborn People Who Refused to Move Out

09:02
The world around us evolves so fast it sometimes makes our heads spin. You can see this most graphically in big cities. So imagine this: a brand-new mall is gonna be built right where your house is standing, and you've been offered a generous sum of money to relocate. Would you do it? Well, if you’re anything like these property owners, that’d be a big fat “Nah, I’m good, thanks!” Other videos you might like: 10 Smallest Countries You Never Knew Existed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHaXOzVyHzI& 15 Dramatic Changes on Earth Revealed by NASA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7txs0SPaJw& Rush Hour in Different Countries Like You’ve Never Seen It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I5B3laBtfc& TIMESTAMPS: “Road block” 0:21 “Stuck in the middle with you!” 1:10 Strong-willed Edith Macefield 1:53 Your own personal moat! 3:34 The "Million Dollar Corner" 5:09 Small house on the rock 6:55 The skinniest house in the world 7:51 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - #1. But the most incredible thing is that this house is sitting right in the middle of a new road being built! - #2. Three families downright refused to leave their homes. The construction company had no other choice but to build a massive bypass around the 2 properties. The remaining families were even promised a noise barrier to block out the sound of traffic. - #3. The homeowner, Edith Macefield, wasn't about to vacate her home. But the developers decided to build the mall anyway so that it surrounded her house on 3 sides. - #4. This home in Chongqing is one of the most famous nail houses in China. Once the area was dug up for construction, their house ended up towering over 55 feet off the surrounding ground! - In 1911, Siegel-Cooper Dry Goods Store sold the land for the highest price that had ever been paid for a plot: a whopping 1 million bucks! That’s $868 a square foot! - Not far from Bajina Bašta in Serbia, you can find a cute little house perched on a rock right in the middle of the Drina River. It was built by 17-year-old boys. Nowadays, the house has become an incredibly popular tourist destination. - The skinniest house in the world is just 3 feet wide at its most narrow point and 5 feet at the widest. The house’s iron frame supports two floors.
