Civil Ensign of the United KingdomUnited Kingdom Owner: Albyn Line Builder: Joseph Thompson & Son Launched: 9 April 1940 Sponsored by: Mrs. K.W. Black Completed: January 1941 Homeport: Glasgow, Scotland Fate: Sunk 6 October 1941 Status: Wrecked General characteristics Tonnage: 4898 gt Displacement: c.13,000 tons fully loaded Length: 128 m (419 ft) Beam: 18 m (59 ft) Installed power: three-cylinder, triple-expansion, steam engine, 1,850 I.H.P (1,380kW)) Propulsion: single screw Crew: 41 Armament: 4 inch (101mm) low angle gun and a 3 inch (77mm) anti-aircraft gun (per admiralty record AFO 1524/41) The SS Thistlegorm was a British armed Merchant Navy ship built in 1940 by Joseph Thompson & Son in Sunderland, England. She was sunk on 6 October 1941 near Ras Muhammad in the Red Sea and is now a well known diving site. Final voyage She set sail on her fourth and final voyage from Glasgow on 2 June 1941, destined for Alexandria, Egypt. The vessel's cargo included: Bedford trucks, Universal Carrier armoured vehicles, Norton 16H and BSA motorcycles, Bren guns, cases of ammunition, and 0.303 rifles as well as radio equipment, Wellington boots, aircraft parts, railway wagons[3] and two LMS Stanier Class 8F steam locomotives. These steam locomotives and their associated coal and water tenders were carried as deck cargo intended for Egyptian National Railways. The rest of the cargo was for the Allied forces in Egypt. At the time the Thistlegorm sailed from Glasgow in June, this was the Western Desert Force, which in September 1941 became part of the newly formed Eighth Army. The crew of the ship, under Captain William Ellis, were supplemented by nine naval personnel to man the machine gun and the anti-aircraft gun. Due to German and Italian naval and air force activity in the Mediterranean, the Thistlegorm sailed as part of a convoy via Cape Town, South Africa, where she refuelled, before heading north up the East coast of Africa and into the Red Sea. On leaving Cape Town, the light cruiser HMS Carlisle joined the convoy. Due to a collision in the Suez Canal, the convoy could not transit through the canal to reach the port of Alexandria and instead moored at Safe Anchorage F,in September 1941 where she remained at anchor until her sinking on 6 October 1941. HMS Carlisle moored in the same anchorage. There was a large build-up of Allied troops in Egypt during September 1941 and German intelligence (Abwehr) suspected that there was a troop carrier in the area bringing in additional troops. Two Heinkel He 111 aircraft of II Staffeln, Kampfgeschwader 26, Luftwaffe, were dispatched from Crete to find and destroy the troop carrier. This search failed but one of the bombers discovered the vessels moored in Safe Anchorage F. Targeting the largest ship, they dropped two bombs on the Thistlegorm, both of which struck hold 4 near the stern of the ship at 0130 on 6 October. The bomb and the explosion of some of the ammunition stored in hold 4 led to the sinking of the Thistlegorm with the loss of four sailors and five members of the Royal Navy gun crew. The survivors were picked up by HMS Carlisle. Captain Ellis was awarded the OBE for his actions following the explosion and a crewman, Angus McLeay, was awarded the George Medal and the Lloyd's War Medal for Bravery at Sea for saving another crew member. Most of the cargo remained within the ship, the major exception being the steam locomotives from the deck cargo which were blown off to either side of the wreck. Construction The SS Thistlegorm was built by Joseph Thompson & Sons shipyard in Sunderland for the Albyn Line and launched in April 1940. She was powered by a triple-expansion steam engine rated to 1,850 hp (1,380 kW). The vessel was privately owned but had been partly financed by the British government and was classified as an armed freighter. She was armed with a 4.7-inch (120 mm) anti-aircraft gun and a heavy-calibre machine gun attached after construction to the stern of the ship. She was one of a number of "Thistle" ships owned and operated by the Albyn Line, which was founded in 1901, based in Sunderland, and had four vessels at the outbreak of World War II. The vessel carried out three successful voyages after her launch. The first was to the US to collect steel rails and aircraft parts, the second to Argentina for grain, and the third to the West Indies for rum. Prior to her fourth and final voyage, she had undergone repairs in Glasgow

Deepest Hole in The Ocean! (Whirlpool) Saltstraumen

02:13
The Saltstraumen has the strongest tidal current in the world. Up to 400,000,000 cubic metres (520,000,000 cu yd) of seawater forces its way through a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) long and 150-metre (490 ft) wide strait every six hours, with water speeds reaching 22 knots (41 km/h; 25 mph). Vortices known as whirlpools or maelstroms up to 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter and 5 metres (16 ft) in depth are formed when the current is at its strongest. The Saltstraumen has existed for about two to three thousand years. Before that, the area was different due to post-glacial rebound. The current is created when the tide tries to fill the Skjerstadfjorden. The height difference between the sea level and the fjord inside can be up to 1 metre (3 ft 3 in). When the current turns, there is a period when the strait is navigable.

Deepest Part of The Oceans - Full Documentary HD

44:54
Measuring the Greatest Ocean Depth The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest known point in Earth's oceans. In 2010 the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping measured the depth of the Challenger Deep at 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) below sea level with an estimated vertical accuracy of ± 40 meters. If Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water. The first depth measurements in the Mariana Trench were made by the British survey ship HMS Challenger, which was used by the Royal Navy in 1875 to conduct research in the trench. The greatest depth that they recorded at that time was 8,184 meters (26,850 feet). In 1951, another Royal Navy vessel, also named the "HMS Challenger," returned to the area for additional measurements. They discovered an even deeper location with a depth of 10,900 meters (35,760 feet) determined by echo sounding. The Challenger Deep was named after the Royal Navy vessel that made these measurements. In 2009, sonar mapping done by researchers aboard the RV Kilo Moana, operated by the University of Hawaii, determined the depth to be 10,971 meters (35,994 feet) with a potential error of ± 22 meters. The most recent measurement, done in 2010, is the 10,994 meter ( ± 40 meter accuracy) depth reported at the top of this article, measured by the United States Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping.

Amazing Underwater Marine Life

05:09
Amazing Underwater Marine Life Enjoy this relaxing underwater video from the philippines. Most of the time the ocean appears to be blue because this is the color our eyes see. But the ocean can be many other colors depending upon particles in the water, the depth of the water, and the amount of skylight. The colors we see depend upon the reflection of the visible wavelengths of light to our eyes. Wavelengths of light pass through matter differently depending on the material's composition. Blue wavelengths are transmitted to greater depths of the ocean, while red wavelengths are absorbed quickly. Water molecules scatter blue wavelengths by absorbing the light waves, and then rapidly reemitting the light waves in different directions. That is why there are mostly blue wavelengths that are reflected back to our eyes. Sometimes oceans look green. This may be because there is an abundance of plant life or sediment from rivers that flow into the ocean. The blue light is absorbed more and the yellow pigments from plants mix with the blue light waves to produce the color green. Sometimes parts of the oceans will look milky brown after a storm passes. This is because winds and currents associated with the storm churn up sand and sediment from the rivers that lead into the oceans. The ocean may also reflect the blue sky. However this is prominent only at relatively low angles and when the water is smooth. Apart from the blue ocean color the most interesting thing in the ocean are the marine animals living in this habitat. Also their color is without light that bright as we see it in underwater photographs or underwater DVD Videos. This film was filmed with dive lights mounted on a underwater video camera and shows spectacular colors of the ocean inhabitants the graceful marine creatures.

Lucky Woman Opened a Clam and Found THESE Inside!

03:01
Women who like wearing jewelry usually love diamonds, gold, and silver. Other women prefer pearls. Pearls are beautiful, hard gems that come in white, red, gray, blue, green, and black. They are typically spherical in shape, but there are those that form unevenly, i.e. baroque pearls. Perfectly round pearls are considered the most beautiful and they are ideal to be used as jewelry. Oysters produce these precious, iridescent stones. Amazingly, they are the by-product of a biological process that occurs when an irritant or a foreign substance such as a food particle, enters an oyster’s shell. Contrary to popular belief, the irritant is hardly ever a grain of sand. Clams and mussels can also produce this precious stone, but not as frequent as oysters do. Imagine then this woman’s surprise when she opened a giant clam and found not just one pearl inside, but perhaps more than a dozen! What a very lucky girl indeed. Most Amazing Cities Found UNDERWATER!

Here is the top list of mysterious sunken underwater cities in the world found underwater! These strange and mindblowing but also amazing forgotten ancient underwater ruins are located deep into the ocean. Yonaguni Pyramids In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site. 2. Sunken City of Cuba In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater. The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site. 3. Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.

In the Heart of the Sea - Final Trailer [HD]

02:35
Chris Hemsworth stars in Ron Howard's IN THE HEART OF THE SEA, in theaters December 2015. http://intheheartoftheseamovie.com https://www.facebook.com/IntheHeartoftheSeaMovie --- Oscar winner Ron Howard (“A Beautiful Mind”) directs the action adventure “In the Heart of the Sea,” based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex. In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down. “In the Heart of the Sea” stars Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers,” “Rush”) as the vessel’s veteran first mate Owen Chase; Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) as its inexperienced Captain, George Pollard; Cillian Murphy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) as second mate Matthew Joy; and Ben Whishaw (“Skyfall”) as novelist Herman Melville, whose inquiries into the event 30 years later helped bring the story to light. Tom Holland (“The Impossible”) also stars as young seaman Tom Nickerson, and Brendan Gleeson (“Edge of Tomorrow”) as the same man, 30 years later. Spanish actor Jordi Mollà (“Riddick”) is the captain of another ship, the Archimedes, who tries to warn the Essex of what may lie ahead. Howard directed from a screenplay by Charles Leavitt (“Blood Diamond”), story by Charles Leavitt and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), based on the book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick, winner of the 2000 National Book Award for Nonfiction. The film is produced by Joe Roth (“Oz the Great and Powerful”), Paula Weinstein (“Blood Diamond,” “This is Where I Leave You”), Will Ward, Brian Grazer (“J. Edgar”) and Ron Howard. Serving as executive producers are Bruce Berman, Sarah Bradshaw, Palak Patel, Erica Huggins and David Bergstein, with William M. Connor as co-producer. The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-winning director of photography Anthony Dod Mantle (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “Rush”); production designer Mark Tildesley (“The Fifth Estate”); Oscar-winning editors Michael Hill (“Apollo 13,” “Rush”) and Dan Hanley (“Apollo 13”); costume designer Julian Day (“Rush”) and composer Roque Baños (“Evil Dead”). “In the Heart of the Sea” is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a COTT Productions-Enelmar Productions, A.I.E. co-production, a Roth Films/Spring Creek/Imagine Entertainment Production, in Association with Kia Jam. Opening in December, 2015 in theaters and IMAX, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Cessna Engine Failure and Ditching in Ocean, Filmed From Inside (HD)

32:20
This video is a bit of a departure from our normal fare here on Real World Police, but I'm obviously letting this one slide. We will be back to our normal programming shortly, but this unparalleled footage is not to be missed. On December 11, 2013, about 1522 Hawaiian standard time, a Cessna 208B, N687MA, was destroyed following a loss of engine power and ditching into the Pacific Ocean near Kalaupapa, Hawaii. One passenger was fatally injured, the airline transport pilot and two passengers were seriously injured, and five passengers received minor injuries. The airplane was operated by Makani Kai Air. The flight departed from the Kalaupapa Airport on the island of Molokai, about 2 minutes prior to the accident, with an intended destination of the Honolulu International Airport on the island of Oahu.  In a written statement, the pilot reported that shortly after takeoff from runway 05, at an altitude of about 400 feet above ground level, he began a left turn for a downwind departure. Shortly after passing 500 feet AGL, the pilot motioned toward the power lever to reduce power for the climb when he heard a loud bang followed by an immediate loss of engine power. The pilot continued the turn toward land, verified the fuel valves were on, and observed all engine gauges displaying "zero." The pilot realized the airplane was not going to make it to land, and rolled the wings level while broadcasting a mayday distress call. Shortly after, the airplane landed within open ocean water in a flat or slightly nose up attitude.  All the passengers and the pilot exited the airplane through the rear right door, and the airplane remained on the water surface for approximately 25 minutes before it sank. One passenger swam to shore, and United States Coast Guard and Maui Fire and Rescue helicopters recovered the pilot and 7 passengers from the water about 80 minutes after the ditching.  A couple of minutes of standard-definition footage from this video were disseminated immediately following the event, however this - right here, right now - is the first time that the full-length, full-HD video is being made publicly available. I still haven't decided whether the voiceover adds something helpful or is simply ridiculous. Perhaps both. Just a fun experiment. A New State of Water Reveals a Hidden Ocean in Earth’s Mantle

04:07
Diamonds from deep within the earth carry a new form of water ice, Ice-VII, that confirms there’s an ocean underneath us! Here’s what we know. This Massive Asteroid Is Headed for Earth…. What Now?- https://youtu.be/yL7EEXg2niU Read More: The Hunt for Earth’s Deep Hidden Oceans https://www.quantamagazine.org/the-hunt-for-earths-deep-hidden-oceans-20180711 “These mineral flecks — some too small to see even under a microscope — offer a peek into Earth’s otherwise unreachable interior. In 2014, researchers glimpsed something embedded in these minerals that, if not for its deep origins, would’ve been unremarkable: water.” Ice-VII inclusions in diamonds: Evidence for aqueous fluid in Earth’s deep mantle http://science.sciencemag.org/content/359/6380/1136 “Small inclusions in diamonds brought up from the mantle provide valuable clues to the mineralogy and chemistry of parts of Earth that we cannot otherwise sample. Tschauner et al.found inclusions of the high-pressure form of water called ice-VII in diamonds sourced from between 410 and 660 km depth, the part of the mantle known as the transition zone. The transition zone is a region where the stable minerals have high water storage capacity. “ The Earth’s Hidden Ocean https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/17/science/the-earths-hidden-ocean.html “Dr. Jacobsen synthesizes deep-earth minerals by replicating the extreme pressures that exist hundreds of miles below the surface. Over the years when he has made a blue mineral called ringwoodite, which is ubiquitous in the transition zone, it has formed with water. But that was just lab work, Dr. Jacobsen said, adding, “We haven’t known whether it could happen down there.” ____________________ Elements is more than just a science show. Sea Urchins Pull Themselves Inside Out to be Reborn | Deep Look

03:23
Conceived in the open sea, tiny spaceship-shaped sea urchin larvae search the vast ocean to find a home. After this incredible odyssey, they undergo one of the most remarkable transformations in nature. SUBSCRIBE to Deep Look! http://goo.gl/8NwXqt DEEP LOOK is a ultra-HD (4K) short video series created by KQED San Francisco and presented by PBS Digital Studios. See the unseen at the very edge of our visible world. Get a new perspective on our place in the universe. Explore big scientific mysteries by going incredibly small. * NEW VIDEOS EVERY OTHER TUESDAY! * Every summer, millions of people head to the coast to soak up the sun and play in the waves. But they aren’t alone. Just beyond the crashing surf, hundreds of millions of tiny sea urchin larvae are also floating around, preparing for one of the most dramatic transformations in the animal kingdom. Scientists along the Pacific coast are investigating how these microscopic ocean drifters, which look like tiny spaceships, find their way back home to the shoreline, where they attach themselves, grow into spiny creatures and live out a slow-moving life that often exceeds 100 years.“These sorts of studies are absolutely crucial if we want to not only maintain healthy fisheries but indeed a healthy ocean,” says Jason Hodin, a research scientist at the University of Washington’s Friday Harbor Laboratories. http://staff.washington.edu/hodin/ http://depts.washington.edu/fhl/ Sea urchins reproduce by sending clouds of eggs and sperm into the water. Millions of larvae are formed, but only a handful make it back to the shoreline to grow into adults. --- What are sea urchins? Sea urchins are spiny invertebrate animals. Adult sea urchins are globe-shaped and show five-point radial symmetry. They move using a system of tube feet. Sea urchins belong to the phylum Echinodermata along with their relatives the sea stars (starfish), sand dollars and sea slugs. --- What do sea urchins eat? Sea urchins eat algae and can reduce kelp forests to barrens if their numbers grow too high. A sea urchin’s mouth, referred to as Aristotle’s lantern, is on the underside and has five sharp teeth. The urchin uses the tube feet to move the food to its mouth. --- How do sea urchins reproduce? Male sea urchins release clouds of sperm and females release huge numbers of eggs directly into the ocean water. The gametes meet and the sperm fertilize the eggs. The fertilized eggs grow into free-swimming embryos which themselves develop into larvae called plutei. The plutei swim through the ocean as plankton until they drop to the seafloor and metamorphosize into the globe-shaped adult urchins. ---+ Read the entire article on KQED Science: https://ww2.kqed.org/science/2016/08/23/sea-urchins-pull-themselves-inside-out-to-be-reborn/ ---+ For more information: Marine Larvae Video Resource http://marinedevelopmentresource.stanford.edu/ ---+ More Great Deep Look episodes: From Drifter to Dynamo: The Story of Plankton | Deep Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUvJ5ANH86I Pygmy Seahorses: Masters of Camouflage | Deep Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3CtGoqz3ww The Fantastic Fur of Sea Otters | Deep Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxqg_um1TXI ---+ See some great videos and documentaries from PBS Digital Studios! Hey there! Next time you complain that you don’t get enough sleep or sunshine, remember about submarine sailors. Oh, that's a real man's job! They see no sun for 90 days in a row and only get 6 hours of sleep in an 18-hour day! Let’s find out more about how things really go underwater. This job isn't for you 8:24 How long submariners are allowed to shower 8:50 How these guys entertain themselves 9:27 How much do submariners make? 10:37 SUMMARY: - Legend has it that the concept of a submarine was invented as early as 332 BCE. Alexander the Great supposedly submerged his soldiers into the sea in diving bells. - The Yankee sub in 1776 was named the Turtle, and it tried and failed to sink a British warship in New York Harbor. - The 3 major submarine powers in the world are the United States, China, and Russia, and the US Navy boasts the largest underwater fleet: over 70 submarines. - Most submarines have diesel-electric engines, the energy from which powers up huge batteries that drive an electric motor to move the propellers. - There’s GPS satellite navigation that works on the surface and a system of motion and rotation sensors under the water. - A submariner has to be psychologically stable and academically qualified — no country will want someone who is unbalanced dealing with its most expensive weapons. - A normal submarine shift lasts 90 days, but it can become longer in an unstable geopolitical environment. - The kitchen not only takes up plenty of space but also offers a huge variety of meals, especially during the first weeks of deployment when the food is still fresh. Submarine chefs make the crew happy with dishes from lobster to lasagna to delicious desserts. - A submarine normally has 2 fully staffed crews: the Blue crew and the Gold crew. - - While a regular day above the water lasts 24 hours, things are different under the sea. For submariners, life is split into 3 shifts of 6 hours, making their day 18 hours long. - Normally, a submarine has 2 showers for 130 crew members. They are allowed to shower for no longer than 3 to 5 minutes so everyone has a turn and to lessen the strain on the water filtration system. - There’s a recreation room with a plasma TV that serves as a movie theater and video game room. There are cards and board games to help the crew bond and entertain themselves. - Maybe the average annual salary of $100,000 plus health benefits makes up for at least some of the stress and pressure the crew goes through. Mano Le Tough - The Sea Inside

04:44
Label: Permanent Vacation Release Date - 2013-02-22 Album "Changing Days" available on: (http://www.juno.co.uk/products/changing-days/479084-01/) (http://www.juno.co.uk/products/changing-days/479085-01/) (http://www.beatport.com/release/changing-days/1032080) The opening moments of Mano Le Tough's debut LP are a snap to attention, a hint that the ensuing hour isn't going to be a stroll through 11 tracks of floor-facing house. Just 11 seconds into opener "Cannibalize", a battering, almost metallic tom bursts into your ears. First time, it jerked this writer upright, causing fellow tube passengers looking askance at the twitching idiot riding alongside them. It had the same effect on second listen, that offbeat crack snapping me away from browsing Twitter and demanding my full focus. It's an early flag in an LP that constantly surprises, refusing to plod along in the background and instead calls for rapt attention to parse an intricate, multifaceted examination of 21st century house music. It's something you'd perhaps expect from a scene stalwart, taking stock of a long and varied career. Not from a twenty-something kid, from a seaside village in Ireland, with just a clutch of EPs to his name. But the labels embossed on those EPs are illuminating. Since his debut on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal back in 2009, the man his mum calls Niall Mannion has popped up on Dirt Crew, Buzzin' Fly and new home Permanent Vacation -- never imprints given to churning out templates. In the process, Mannion's shown a refusal to rest in any one style, turning his hand to heads down techno, dreamy electronica and the disco-tinged house he's perhaps best known for. And while the stylistic buffet is common to so many young producers experimenting with where exactly they feel comfortable, on Changing Days those wonderfully disparate strands are threaded together into a single tapestry that, despite its individual variations, makes most sense when you step back and appreciate it as one stunning whole. Amid the divergences, it's the echoes across tracks that tie moments together; the vocoded chants on "A Thing From Above' and 'Please", bells that chime from "Everything You've Done Before" into '"Nothing Good Gets Away", or even Mannion's vocals, dripping with maudlin, on "Cannibalize" and "Primative People". It's especially impressive that an LP that manages to cover such wide-ranging territory still feels cohesive. The slow stomp of the title track and its arpeggios that twirl, paired around offset drums, are worlds from the shimmering pads of "Moments In Truth", which strolls out of the speakers and envelops you in a lushness of low-end. Yet there's something throughout Changing Days that means these songs -- and they are songs, not just tracks -- make most sense when you experience them together. It's not hard to see why Mannion's quickly become a favourite of the Innervisions stable, with Âme especially moved to describe him as "the future of house". Mannion's synths have that thickness that marks out any Henrik Schwarz cut, the blend of natural and synthetic sounds that Dixon's made his own and even Âme's appreciation of ebb and flow, the build and release of energy. "Dreaming Youth" is like a forgotten A Critical Mass record, albeit with less dancefloor focus, and yet it's unmistakably a Mano Le Tough cut. There's something buried in there that means it couldn't have come from anyone else. Pinning down that ineffable quality is difficult; perhaps it's the blending of the acoustic and electronic, maybe it's Mannion's flawed but character-filled vocal, or even that the rack of synths and processing is shared across the album's length and drops recognizable artifacts in every track. It's all this and more in truth on a superb album, which is innovative, emotionally taught and beautifully produced and marks Niall Mannion as a truly special talent. Bob Seger - The Sea Inside

© All rights reserved to their respective owners. Bob Seger - The Sea Inside - track #6 from 2017 album I Knew You When - to me this song is no less than a masterpiece, reveals one mature creative personality with a huge musical fantasy and abilities of turning fantasy into a real musical fact. I won't be wrong if say this is my #1 favorite from this album, hard to explain everything with my bad English but I tried at least. Of course my modest attempt of a video is not on the level of the song... I beg your pardon… Enjoy the song! AND... BUY this album @ https://bobseger.lnk.to/IKnewYouWhenYD When you're out there on that open road And you have no place to go There's a solace in the emptiness When there is no need to know You can drift away You can spend the day without things When the night comes on You can spend it without dreams Like a* wave out on the open sea Like a* cloud up in the sky You can move away from earthly things You don't have to say goodbye When you're free at last* You can leave your past behind you Chart* a brand new course Let it take you far away You can sail the sea You can sail the sea inside you You can leave it all You can leave it all behind Yeah! When you're out there in the emptiness And your dreams have been denied It's time to face the wilderness And sail the sea inside https://genius.com/Bob-seger-the-sea-inside-lyrics (with a little help of a fiend, marked with *. Exploring Inside Huge Abandoned Sea Fort - (Horse Sand Solent Palmerston Fort)

08:14
Exploring inside of an abandoned sea fort Horse Sands which is one of the Solent forts between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. This was an epic explore which took months of planning and I am so excited to share it! Please subscribe for more: https://www.youtube.com/user/NickTurbo4000 Filmed with Sony A7Sii, Panasonic gh4, Phantom 3 and Go Pro. Edited and graded in Adobe Premiere Pro 2017 and the music was created by me in FL Studio. Check out my social media links: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nickturbo4000/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/UrbexIOW Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AbandonedIOW/ Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/nick-leonardo-stotesbury The fort is one of four that were built in the 19th century to protect Portsmouth and the Solent against a potential French invasion. Horse Sands is the joint largest of all of the UK sea forts and was built with 59 gun emplacements across its two gun floors. The fort was built between 1865 and 1880 by the time the fort had been finished the threat of a French invasion had diminished and the technology of the guns become out-of-date. Because of this the fort's were never needed to be used for their intended purpose and became known as "Palmerston's follies" after the Prime Minister who authorised their construction. The numerous forts built during this period were the most extensive and costly fixed defense structures built in Britain in peacetime. Horse Sands was rearmed during the first and second world wars and during this period the fort was painted in a black and white checkered paint scheme. It was painted in this way as a form of camouflage the purpose was not to make the fort invisible but instead to confuse attempts to attack it by making it difficult to accurately gauge the distance of the fort. The fort was deactivated after ww2 and used for coastal artillery up until 1956 in the 1960s the site was declared surplus to requirement by the Ministry of Defense In 2012 the company who owned the neighboring forts Spitbank and No Mans announced that they purchased Horse Sands. The new owner intended to convert it into a museum with displays of the history of all three forts Within the last month the three Solent forts had been collectively put back on the market for the guide price of 11 million pounds
