High Alert: China to send TWO warships to CONFRONT US Navy in South China Sea CHINA has threatened to ramp up its aggression towards the US in the South China Sea, after military and government officials discussed the tensions and relations between the world’s two largest economies on Saturday. Chinese media has reported the situation in the contested South China Sea is on the brink of escalation. The claim was made by the state-owned tabloid, Global Times. The paper quoted a senior Chinese military official, who declared China should be prepared to attack US naval vessels, should the US violate Chinese “territorial waters”. Dai Xu, who is president of the Institute of Marine Safety and Cooperation, said: “If the US warships break into Chinese waters again, I suggest that two warships should be sent: one to stop it, and another one to ram it. “In our territorial waters, we won't allow US warships to create disturbance.” The PLAAF Air Force Colonel Commander was quoted by the Chinese tabloid after a conference held in Beijing on Saturday. Referring to the increasingly regular Freedom of Navigation Operations being carried out by the United States in the South China Sea, Mr Dai said he couldn’t understand why people in China were afraid of using military force to counter US Navy activity. Every hour, Louisiana loses a football field worth of land to the Gulf of Mexico, thanks to rising sea levels and canals dredged by oil and gas companies. At this rate, most of southeastern Louisiana not protected by levees will be underwater in just 50 years. (23 Jun 2017) Mayors from hundreds of cities around the United States gather for a 4 day conference at the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami Beach. At the opening news conference many city leaders, including the host city's Mayor Phillip Levine addressed solidarity in facing the threats of sea level rise and climate change. Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans offered his point of view leading a city sitting below sea level. Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York and others also made remarks bringing attention to the need for bipartisanship and action in this time of unparalleled partisan hostility. Look to City Hall. That's the message from the nation's mayors six months into Donald Trump's presidency. The point, they argue, is to prove to skeptical voters that government actually can work and, in the process, perhaps convince politicians above them that "compromise" and "problem-solving" aren't dirty words. How China Avoids War in the South China Sea SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seven East Asian nation-states are currently laying territorial claim on often overlapping areas in the South China Sea. The claims are over different portions of the sea and various small, mostly uninhabited islands. Possessing the territories is just a matter of national prestige, as the South China Sea contains an estimated 11 billion barrels of untapped oil, 190 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and over $3 trillion worth of trade passing through annually. China is claiming the lion’s share, through its Nine-Dash Line, a maritime demarcation line China created that encompasses almost the entirety of the South China Sea (around 85-90 percent). So far, China has built 3000 acres of new land in the South China Sea, some within disputed areas, on which it placed numerous military installations, including radars, surface-to-air missiles and paved runways capable of accommodating fighter jets. China is currently in the process of modernization its armed forces, which is a part of the government’s national rejuvenation plan. In terms of conventional forces, China has the largest armed forces in the world in sheer manpower, with approximately twice as many active and reserve personnel than the United States. China also has nuclear capabilities, with an estimated 260 nuclear warheads. Albeit Beijing’s stockpile much smaller than that of America’s or Russia’s, it is gradually growing. For instance, U.S. intelligence estimates that of the 260 Chinese warheads, 100 of them will have long-range missile capabilities by 2020, which will have the ability to reach the United States. However, compared to the approximately 6500-7000 warheads Russia’s and America’s arsenals consist of, China’s seems rather meager. As China’s military capabilities grow so does its confidence in dealing with neighboring countries. For example, China’s coercive tactics with the use of maritime force... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sea Shepherd CEO, Steve Roest, flies at an undisclosed altitude to examine the situation in the Gulf. Watch as he narrates his account. Please help us get this evidence out there. Favorite and share this video. www.seashepherd.org Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Operation Gulf Rescue Ramps Up Operation Gulf Rescue The problem: On the morning of April 20, 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana, the British Petroleum (BP) Deepwater Horizon semi-submersible mobile offshore drilling unit exploded, killing 11 people. On the afternoon of April 22th, a large oil slick began to spread from the former rig site, and today this disaster is the largest offshore spill in U.S. history. Estimates vary as to how much oil is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, but experts agree that it is between 50,000 and 150,000 barrels of oil per day. On May 19th, scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and elsewhere stated that oil had reached the Loop Current. By June 4th, the oil spill had landed on 125 miles of Louisiana's coast, washed up along Mississippi and Alabama barrier islands, and was found for the first time on a Florida barrier island at Pensacola Beach. The greatest concern has been that severe weather, as we enter hurricane season, might push the oil inland and over a far wider area, simultaneously rendering many clean-up and wildlife rescue operations useless or redundant. On June 30th, Sea Shepherd Gulf Operations Liaison Dr. Bonny Schumaker and Sea Shepherd CEO Steve Roest attended a New Orleans Gulf oil spill coalition meeting. Extensive discussion was given to strategies for coordinating and implementing public sector support for the oil cleanup, for protection and rescue of the Gulf wildlife, and for recovery of the local economy. The questions: Have the U.S. government and BP implemented the best strategies for oil clean-up and animal rescue? Why is a solution taking so long? What can be done to save marine life over the long term? Who should be involved? These are the questions everyone is asking, and while debate rages, Sea Shepherd is preparing for multiple operations to help in the rescue of animals. Some answers: Sea Shepherd has already begun training volunteers and crew for hazmat/hazwoper (hazardous materials safety compliance) operations, and is preparing them for conditions in the Gulf. Sea Shepherd has been conducting reconnaissance surveys by air and sea across the affected areas for weeks, and trained volunteers will soon be in the area to carefully study and report on wildlife and ecosystems in the most contaminated areas. Sea Shepherd is also currently preparing a large vessel in Europe to serve as a floating support facility for authorized, qualified experts working to rescue and protect wildlife and habitat in the Gulf. Veterinarians, scientists, researchers, and highly qualified oiled wildlife rescue experts will join our ship in the Gulf, and Sea Shepherd will also have qualified personnel available to assist with construction, transportation, and other needs. The Sea Shepherd floating Wildlife Care Center will be available to assist all authorized operations. We need the help of Sea Shepherd's amazing supporters once again. We need you to urge the U.S. government to use everything at its disposal to help clean up the Gulf and to rescue the animals. Sea Shepherd needs funds for Operation Gulf Rescue. We will be in the Gulf for as long as we are able, and we need help with equipping and fueling our ship, training our volunteer crews, making regular surveys of the affected areas by air, sea, and land, and we need to keep appropriate pressure on BP and all authorized agencies to accept our and other help from the public sector. We can't do any of this without your continued help. ---- Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine conservation organization that engages in direct action campaigns to defend wildlife, and conserve and protect the world’s oceans from illegal exploitation and environmental destruction. Scientific topics covered include toxicity testing of chemical dispersants, development of new dispersants, and efficacy of dispersant formulations. Legal and policy issues were considered as well – including the EPA proposed rule (Subpart J) to the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP). Emily Maung-Douglass, Ph.D. is an oil spill extension specialist at Louisiana Sea Grant (LSU). She facilitated this seminar and gave attendees an explanation of the Sea Grant/Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative oil spill outreach program. While popular culture portrays Vodou as full of curses and sticking pins into little dolls, the religion has in fact played a central role in Haitian cultural identity since the country's birth, a result of the New World's first and only successful slave rebellion. Since Brooklyn is home to the largest Haitian population outside of Haiti, we sent Thomas Morton into our own backyard to witness the realities of being possessed by Vodou's multitude of rowdy, rum-thirsty spirits. Before he would propose to Nicki Minaj with a $500,000 engagement ring over the Internet. Before he later proposed to Nicole Tuck and she said yes. Before he would get lost at Sea and record the whole experience via SnapChat. Before DJ Khaled would leek his own sex tape when his record Hold You Down went number 1 in America. His parents are Palestinian and immigrated to New Orleans for a better life, bringing with them their love for Arabic and performance. Young Khaleed took to music young but developed his own interest in rap and hip hop. He got his first break working College Radio and built up the reputation of that of a party animal throwing wild jams. Soon he would work his way up to the number one listened to radio station in Souther Florida 99 Jamz. From there he would collab endlessly with all the big names in he biz originally under the name Arab Attack, a name he would distance himself from post 9/11. But this was just one of many monikers he would adopt, including Big Dog Pitbull, The Don Dada, and Mr. Miami. He found work at the New Orleans record story Odyssey where he would build contacts, meeting Lil Wayne and Birdman back in 1993. He soon found work as a deejay on college radio but would build up an even bigger following for the larger than life house parties, a ritual he still carries on to this day. He soon moved on to work on Pirate Radio and also worked as a "sidekick" for Miami rapper Luther Campbell for Campbell's Friday night Mixx 96 radio show The Luke Show. Khaled assisted in the production of the hip-hop albums Real Talk by Fabolous, True Story by Terror Squad, All or Nothing by Fat Joe, and Me, Myself, & I by Fat Joe. In 2003, he started hosting his own radio show, which currently airs weeknights on 99 Jamz FM – this being the most listened to radio station in Southern Florida. In Part 1 of Episode 2 we were left out in the entrance of Mobile Bay, Alabama with a ripped main sail, malfunctioning jib sail, our motor wasn't working properly and we were low on fuel. We did a filter change as we were floating out towards a dangerously low spot while the wind was kicking up choppy seas as it was blowing 30 Knots from the North. We successfully changed out the filters and limped back into our anchorage at Dauphin Island. I went to the beach to gather spare filters, a bit of groceries and some more diesel. When I arrived to the beach I met an amazing couple from the area (Mark and Debbie) and they were generous enough to give me a ride to different stores to hunt for the filters we needed. Its not a very big sailing community there and it was very hard to find the filters for our little 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Diesel. After running around we were able to find everything but one of the filters. So they said they would come pick me up the next day and we would go find one. Mark drove me all over and we finally found the filter!! It was double the price at 46 Bucks a piece but we had no choice. We were just thankful that someone had them. We also stopped by West Marine to pick up another line for the roller fuller as well as we stopped by a sail maker to price out how much it would cost to fix our main. It was truly amazing to meet such amazing people and realize that there are great people still out there. Its moments like these that I will always remember and if I meet anyone that needs help, I will lend a hand because I know what its like and I have definitely been in a similar situation. Plus I probably will need help again in the future. So we pieced ourselves together and left with a functioning Jib Sail, we had reefed our main right above the rip so we could still utilize some of the main, our fuel supply was back to 100% and we had extra filters. The next day we pressed on without any difficulties. The following day after that, there was a Northern Front that came in bringing FREEZING COLD temps. Ok it probably wasn't that cold for you but I'm a Southern California and Mexico sailor so sailing in the low 30's with 30 knots of wind right on the nose wasn't ideal for this guy haha. All in all we made it to Gulf Breeze which is a stones throw away from Pensacola. (actually its across the bay but its kinda close) Now we are making the fixes we need to head out into the Gulf towards Tampa Bay later this week.
