ITALY: MSGM DJ turned designer Massimo Giorgetti's label MGSM is the hottest young look in Italy. SPAIN: AGATHA RUIZ DE LA PRADA Using the national colors of red and yellow, the Madrid designer's central graphic is a loving heart. AUSTRALIA: KSUBI Attention-grabbing Ksubi let 169 rats loose in their first runway show back in 2001, announcing the birth of an iconoclastic posh punk surfer style. For Brazil they use the green and yellow of both the Brazilian and Australian team colors with the ancient Roman warning X Non Plus Ultra -- in other words -- nothing further beyond. KOREA: JUUN.J Nicknamed the Tangeuk Tigers, South Korea proudly sport the big cat as their emblem. A key symbol in Korean culture, tigers are viewed as guardians warding off evil. Juun J., the heroic modernist tailor, lets a Siberian Tiger leap across his sweatshirt. CHINA: MASHA MA Masha Ma is the St Martins graduate from China causing quite a stir in Paris with her novel vision of modernist deconstruction. Masha's jersey for the tropical World Championship riffs on the red, white black combos of the collection she presented in March. Her Cubist collage hints of pagodas, soccer boots, an horizontal M and the spiky cacti that ripple through her oeuvre. NIGERIA: DURO OLOWU While playing on his country's tradition for graphic prints and his own unexpected color combos, Doru Oluwu makes the proud bird his centerpiece. BRAZIL: BARBARA CASASOLA Our Brazilian squad member is Barbara Casasola; who has been winning kudos for her fluid ladylike chic. Born in 1969, Japan's Jun Takahashi is the indisputable artistic soul behind Undercover, a brand that has been part of the Paris Fashion Week's Calendar since 2002. As an honored guest during the 66th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, Jun showed a preview of the Men's 2010 collection and shared his style inspirations with a doll-making event in Florence's Boboli gardens, much to the delight of the fashion public. Using needle and thread to create "beauty and horror", the dolls of Undercover became a kind of stylish laboratory experiment, resulting in a series of lacey creatures named Grace, aptly named for the spontaneous spirit with which they were brought to life. Hybrid creatures that fall somewhere between the feminine and the alien, the realistic and the fantastic, the dolls were a first step in challenging the standard fashion show stereotypes while proposing a new way of representing rock 'n roll spirit behind the Spring/Summer 2010 Collections, and were complemented by a photographic installation by the artist Katsuhide Morimoto. Undercover's mission has always been to emphasize the driving "concept" behind every collection, an exercise in communication that goes beyond any single garment to reveal the greater vision that lies beneath. I consider myself a fashion "geek": I love technology nearly as much as I love fashion! I like the idea of having designed something pop, modern, fun and simple, that can be changed every day to match your mood. MY WARDROBE I have two wardrobes, one in Milan, the other in New York. JEWELS I love jewelry, whether real or imitation. I like colorful, large pieces that attract attention, because they make even the most basic outfit look special. I often wear very large earrings (my favorite!) but also deliberately 'out there' necklaces. The most original way to wear them? With garments of clean lines, creating a bold and unexpected contrast. Designer, talent scout, entrepreneur and communicator. A key figure in the history of fashion, Fiorucci has managed to create a universe in which art and fashion intertwine. His creations have had a phenomenon success and became popular cult items for several generations. BIOGRAPHY Elio Fiorucci was born in Milan in 1935, and at the age of 17 he began following his father's profession, working in the family's slipper shop in the city center. Fiorucci first opened his own shop in 1967, featuring all the newest arrivals from Carnaby Street and the most popular items from London and the United States. After just three years, the Fiorucci name became a brand with its own industrial production, distributed throughout Europe, South America and Japan. The Milanese flagship store became a meeting point for young people seeking out the unconventional and the "Fiorucci style" was born as a look and lifestyle concept. As his brand's symbol, Fiorucci chose the two now-famous angels, a Victorian image re-interpreted by the architect Italo Lupi. After opening a store in London, in 1976 the New York Fiorucci store, designed by Ettore Sottsass, Andrea Branzi and Franco Marabelli, opened on 59th Street and immediately became a cult destination frequented by New York's most famous intellectuals. Andy Warhol chose the shop window for the launch of his revolutionary "Interview" magazine. Fiorucci also organized the Grand Opening of the legendary disco Studio 54 in 1977, an event attended by members of the international jet set like Bianca Jagger, Andy Warhol, and Grace Jones. 1981 saw the launch of the T-shirt and sweatshirt collection illustrated with Disney images, an enormous success that brought Fiorucci to the forefront of multi-national corporations, and made Micky Mouse a coveted icon even for adults. When Du Pont launched Lycra the following year, Fiorucci mixed the material with denim and the first stretch jeans were born: feminine, form-fitting, and seductive. During the '90s, the Fiorucci brand was bought by the Japanese company Edwin International, the leading Made in Japan denim brand, and the Milanese flagship store transformed its retail formula, becoming a "showcase" for young, innovative brands. The T-Art project was launched, a collection of T-shirts inspired by sweet, fairy-tale images, and the product became an immediate bestseller. In 2003 the Fiorucci store ceded to the Swedish group H&M; Elio Fiorucci created a new project, "Love Therapy", offering a new, whimsical range of clothing, jeans, T-shirts, and accessories, represented by an entertaining logo of two elves. In 2004, Milan's Chamber of Commerce awarded the "Piazza Mercanti" award to Ennio Fiorucci for his career as a designer, talent scout, entrepreneur and communicator. Today she is a stylist who works with the most influential magazines and fashion houses. She is also the Fashion Director of Russian Tatler and Creative Fashion Consultant for Allure Russia. She is the mother of six month old Akulina, who already vaunts an amazing little wardrobe... SINCE I WAS A CHILD... My passion for fashion started when I was a young girl. I remember spending hours observing my mother while she got dressed to go out. I also spent whole afternoons looking at her Vogue Italia magazines. Already back then I got lost inside the photo shoots, cutting out what I most liked. I tried making my own clothes, both for school and for my dancing lessons. MY STYLE I wouldn't know how to describe my style. Maybe I would use the word 'spontaneous'. My looks are never too studied: I usually walk to my closet ten minutes before I need to be ready and pick something. I like feeling comfortable with what I wear and always choose pieces with a contemporary feel. I go for timeless and basic clothes and then add accessories and more iconic elements. STATEMENT PIECES What should never be missing in a woman's wardrobe is a beautiful pair of jeans which suit every occasion, a trench coat which is always chic, and some high heeled shoes. My favorite designers are Céline, Chloé, Balmain and Azzedine Alaïa. For shoes, I like Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin, as well as emerging shoe designers such as Aquazzura, who has a great talent.
