The first jacket is not a down jacket. It is a synthetic jacket that mimics down jackets properties. They are not as warm for their weight but can be more breathable and sometimes be warm even when wet for a time. (synthetics dry faster than down too)
Question: How many of us in our 20s-30s now associate the trench coat first with a particular "mall goth" crowd from when we were in school? Or w/ reaction to "goth fashion." (Pointing at those who might know something about it.)
A good down jacket for causal everyday use.
Leather jacket when I want to take it up a notch.
For those more formal occassions nothing beats the nice charcoal grey topcoat over the suit or sport coat. Really knocks 'em dead.
Hi Antonio, I've been following your channel for a while on my transition from a student, a worker, into my career field and all these tips and tricks you've shared have been SOOOO useful. Please keep doing what you're doing 👌
They're all very pretty but each is lacking functionally; some it's the material; some it's the collar. If all it needed to do is to keep someone warm walking from the car to indoors they're OK but they won't hack it for most outdoor activities.
I like to thank for this video of good advice. The the classic bellow or big lower pockets jackets, the waxed jacket, the sports classic quilt, and the formal brown over coat are my preferences because I wear very similar ones in era, colour, cut and design. Some of the best jackets in my opinion are the barbour jackets because they are amongst the richest in all the aspects of clothing. There are few other jackets belong to the other few jacket brands that make the same or rarely better quality but definitely still not parallel in a broad comparison with the barbour ones. I think all what clothing is about is well established and expressed within just the barbour clothing brand excluding the formal wear maybe.
That is why I think I will enjoy if you explain out the barbour jackets and clothing in general all though everything about this brand tells me I aught to be analytic and carious about it.
In germany the brand wellensteyn is very popular the jackets are 200-270 the quality is very good for the price in my opinion the feel better than a woolrich maybe check them out in germany kind of every 10 person is wearing one but i never heard from other countries wearing this
Poorly researched...The first green jacket featured is the Patagonia Nano Puff, which is a SYNTHETIC Primaloft insulated piece that is still warm even if wet/soaked, unlike down. The Micro Puff is also a synthetic puffy that’s more expensive, but warmer for the weight and even more packable. Both come in jacket/hoody/vest
I considered going for a classic British trench coat from Burberry but I found that I struggled to find one that fit very well. I was also unsure about it’s versatility. I decided to go for a high quality parka from Canali which has a real fur lining. I was surprised at how much I liked it because I really do not like the fur lining look. Fortunately it has a detachable hood, which increases its versatility. I was even more pleased when I discovered the fur lining could be removed from the hood. So now I have a piece of fur that is of no use to me. I feel bad for the animal.
I have BIG problems finding winter jackets that suit me, due to my weird body proportions - I'm only 5'6" tall, but I have the shoulders of a guy of over 6'. Most of the jackets that aren't casual look either very boxy on me if they're short jackets e.g. pea coats (emphasising my already broad shoulders), or I drown in them if they're long e.g. trench coats as the hem of the jacket goes right down to mid calf or even ankles, and the cuffs of the sleeves cover most of my hand.
I've only found two coats so far on the classier side that suit me, both overcoats in fairly drab shades of grey that come down to mid thigh.
I love the look of pea coats, but I think for my height I would need to have slim shoulders that then are built out by the coat to look amazing (as most shorter skinny guys look in pea coats). I can wear most of the casual styles and look "OK", but it's a real struggle to find anything that looks really amazing. I would so love to wear the Officer K style coat from Blade Runner 2049, but again I don't think it would suit me.
I love Sherpa jackets, I picked up a red flannel Sherpa jacket as well as a brown bomber jacket, I also check out vintage flannel coats. But my all time favorite winter wear in my closet is my olive green pea coat which I call "My Christmas coat". Have you ever thought about making a video on "Christmas office party" fashion for men?
I bought a wool navy double breasted overcoat in a thrift shop. It was like made by a tailor to me. The point is that thrift shopping is like fishing - you can be really lucky and otherwise. But a great way to save much money - especially as a student.
After stewing on this video over the weekend I have to say I am very disappointed. I can find information on what types of jackets there are out there from anyone, what I wanted to see was HOW to wear those jackets. Can you wear a parka with a button up shirt? Are parkas, quilted jackets, etc. business casual? Other than the overcoat, are any of the others business formal wear? What colors/materials dress the jacket up/down? That was what I was hoping to see in the video and I would love to see a "How to Wear the Best Winter Jackets for Men" with that sort of information.
These coats suck, light , girlie not warm and only come in a few colors, thats what happens when you let gay men run the fashion industry. I wish i still had my varsity jacket for cool air and my Penney's winter jacket for cold air from 1977. Way better coats. By the way men wear coats, jackets are for dressing up.
I bought my peacoat on eBay from an ex-Navy officer who had done his service in places like the US Virgin Islands, Texas, Florida, etc... He'd never worn it. $100, looks dynamite, super warm, 100% wool with nice pewter button that make it stand out a bit from jackets with plastic buttons. A peacoat looks good on everybody, it's definitely my favourite coat I own.
I wore my fathers pea coat ( the real mccoy, dense wool and thick) , in high school and received lots of compliments.
I have a leather field coat for when it's really cold. I have a insulated "windbreaker" but am lately tired of the sea of plastic coats and am considering going to a more formal Harris Tweed sport coat or even the Aran Sweaters. I am looking for a dress overcoat(I'm an accountant) in wool now.
Can you do a video on looking good while carrying a firearm? Seriously, it’s difficult to find a holster with nice materials and doesn’t bulge. My wife likes the under-arm carry, but not the material. Thank you
Me personally, I wear a selection of different colored overcoats that matches my attire. I also have a few different peacoats ranging in length from average length, medium length and above the knee length.
I have always loved the look of the pea coat. When I have seen them , unfortunately, they have almost always been in the hundreds of dollars price range. If you know of retailers providing them affordably....
