Question , when you do flys, does it help to widen up the chest? Can it still work when you are older? How heavy should you go , or do u first build a foundation to let your body's chest and arms get used to that light weight and form? what would a good beginner chest workout be and along with what muscle do you do this? I did triceps yesterday and i did seated push downs , felt good and did 4 sets of 12 on a medium to heavy weight , i then did triceps extention standing and leaning forward... and my gosh i really did something when i extended y right arm i just felt this ball or fire or tear or something, really horrible. what i can add is that 4 days before this , i had hurt myself on biceps particular the right one , where i was so so sore i felt torn and burning on day 1 and 2 particularly after that day of workout. Not sure if this contributed to my tricep issue, and maybe i should be going lighter on all my body....

I have smaller arms then him and i am 40. I am trying to get in to gym again fro 18 years ago, its so bloody difficult. I injured myself badly on biceps (particularly my right arm) because i was just pushing myself too much and was off for 4 days i went back again today and i thought all was good, but i tried an exercise i have never really tried before ever and it was the tricep extension. I am pretty sure i used a light weight but as i extended my right arm i just felt this horrible burn and knot pain I did this right after i did 4 sets of 12 seated triceps push downs, not sure what causes this pull now. I used to be pretty good with triceps and now i am too scared to do them. I left the gym today right after i felt this horrible/burn/tear knot.

I lifted light weights with 8-15 rep ranges for my first year and saw hardly any progress. Now that I’ve started lifting heavy with rep ranges of 3-5 I’ve seen noticeable changes in strength and appearance. IMO light weights don’t do anything

In the first movement,,,, when you pull the bar all the way down, act like your trying to hold a pencil in between your scapulae (shoulder blades), also, exhale when pulling down and inhale when letting the bar return to start position.

I started working out a few years ago for being kind of skinny fat, I’m still young so I know some of my goals are physically impossible at the moment (16 now but started at 13) but for all the people being keyboard warriors; everyone starts somewhere!
