Although you can set millions of colors, computer monitors cannot render that many colors yet. Hexadecimal color codes are simlar to RGB, but they use a different model. CSS color names are limited to just 140 different colors. CSS RGB can be extended to include the alpha (transparency) channel using RGBA values. That's all there is to it.
