Anti-Architecture & Deconstructivism

437 ratings | 24397 views
Deconstructivism is a Postmodern architectural style characterised by the idea of fragmentation and the manipulation of a structure’s surface. Buildings adopting the style are often formed of components that have been disassembled and reassembled in a new and unorthodox way, giving the impression of a chaotic design devoid of precise logic.

Most deconstructivist buildings seem to delight in being offensive.

how does this compare to up in smoke-ism? Cheech..
As much as despise Jacques Derrida's Deconstructivism of words, I find myself enjoying the deconconstructivism of architecture. What a tangled web we weave.

actually, post modernism tends to borrow stuffs up mostly from the classical architecture. Deconstructivism denies it strongly, suggesting the ideas of borrowing from the past is meaningless in this modern age. Deconstructivism is kind of like Post-postmodernism.

Please go back to animated videos, they get much more views and are more satisfying to look at. I checked the comments on the animated video and it looks like everyone was saying you stole the style from another channel, but it looked nothing like that channels style, and the animation was great!

Well made video, maybe should've consulted an expert in architectural theory on the content though. Wright's architecture is not deconstructivist and the museum that you showcased here was in fact built decades before the philosophy of deconstruction came into existence let alone transferred into the realm of architecture. Keep it up though, we desperately need good architecture content on YouTube!

Carter McHugh The structural basis of ‘Deconstruction’ was in part inspired by Martin Heidegger’s ‘Destruktion’. So while true that FLW buildings aren’t deconstructivist the theory has deep philosophical roots before before 1950
